Zaino Day

Man it's alot of work. Did my wife's Navi first (yes my L is in the picture so don't move this thread). Since her truck is new the results are great, but not dramatic. One thing I learned is that to make sure you have great lighting and to wait a little longer between coats even though I used the accelerator. Anyhow here is a couple of pics.

My wife and kids went down to Sears as soon as it opened and got my father's day gift early. The seat sure made it alot easier than the emtpy laundry detergent pail from Costco. I am lucky to have a family like that.

As you can see the quality of the Zaino is great, even with a 1.5 megapixel camera. To tell the truth I never would have bought Zaino if it wasn't for this board. Thanks folks for the recomendation. It's nice for the product to live up to the internet hype.

Next week the L.

That looks awesome!!!

I love the results I get with Zaino and have been using it for the past 2 years. It looks real good on my sonic blue Lightning and many of people ask what I use to make it look so “wet”. I tell them I use Z and I get this puzzled look. Most people really don’t care, they compliment on the look but you know they most likely will never give their vehicle as much attention.

I just used Griot's garage Best of show wax. The results were amazing on my 03 Sonic Blue L. I will try and post some pics soon.

Looks good. I've never used Zaino but a lot of people like it. I'm a firm believer that the proper prep and a quality polish and wax will give near identical results to each other. I've been using S100 and recently been using some NXT and have had some excellent results with that. Do you ever go over to Autopia? It's an excellent forum for detail enthusiasts.

I realy hate to sound like an idiot,
(but hey, this is me) heheheheh

But what exactly is Zaino ???
I mean Duuuuuuuu, I know what it is, I've seen the results
a million times, (it looks great) but WHAT IS IT ???
I know it's a multi step system, my question is,
Is the final step actually adding a protective clear coat
OR SOMETHING ?

Years ago I remember on my 79 Mustang Pace Car
(it was that oh so dull silver, + all faded away when I bought it)
I bought a new product at the time that was grrnt'd to bring a shine back. What it actually did was added a clear coat to the Finish (or something), it truly did make a world of diff, even to the Flat Black part of the Hood, SOB shined like a Mother after that, and stayed that way til I sold it. I remember I had to apply it with a sponge in an up and down motion, making sure you got each square inch of the vehicle.
Is it a NON WAX type of coating ?
or just a Multi Step, Stripper, Cleaner, and Wax ?

The results sure look great, great job MHMCGILL

AND GREAT CHAIR

Zaino is a synthetic polish that does put a protective coat on the paint as does wax. However Zaino being a synthetic will last a good 4 – 6 months. The main reason I choose to use Zaino a few years back was because of it durability. I tried it and loved it. I did NOT have to use a buffer to achieve the shine that those who normally use wax do.

It lasted me a good 6 months through a harsh winter, the one before last. We had a lot of snow, salt so there was no chance to wash by hand. I used the car wash approx. 20 – 25 times and come spring my truck still had Zaino protection. Ordinary waxes will NOT last that long, a month or so, but not through a winter…

It is really not a multi-step product, at least no different then using wax. If you want to do a complete job then any wax/polish will have multiply steps like claying etc.

However unlike Meguiars, which is a fine product, Zaino does NOT have any products for correcting problems with the paint finish such as swirls. Zaino, in my opinion, is something you use on a paint surface that is in good shape to begin with. Zaino does have a product they advertise as a swirl remover but it won’t remove or cover swirls very good. If you have very, very light scratches it may hide them a bit.

The reason none of Zaino’s products will cure paint surface problems is they do NOT have any HARSH abrasives in them. It takes abrasives to get rid of swirls, or fillers that will come out within a few car washes.

As was stated any good quality wax/polish when applied to a properly prepped vehicle will look good and to most be hard to tell what product is on what vehicle but there is a difference between products and their durability. Zaino will last much, much longer then any wax, good quality or not. Meguiars now has a synthetic of their own which is named NXT. I don’t have any experience with it but it is suppose to be good but why try a new product when you can have the tried and tested Zaino, you just can’t go wrong…

This is where you took your Zaino song and dance since you're never up in General Care any longer.... LOL!

Hey MHMCGILL... the Z looks awesome in your pictures! Black is a monster to keep maintained but, it looks like you're doing a tremendous job! Good job!!!

When I called Zaino about the possibility of their swirl remover not removing some that I had, he recommended a body shop quality of 3M product. I believe it was 3M swirl remover. In my case, a version of 3M for dark colored vehicles.

Caution - it does have a mild abrasive, and is not what I needed. Zaino took care of everything on my truck that I needed. My signature post was after the truck being under a Wolf Carcover for a month and then driven 200 miles to a race, it shines even more when I was it, and the Zaino spray really deepens the depth of the paint.

The largest issue I have with Zaino is that it takes so long initially to properly get a vehicle started on it, and it is a tedious process but well worth it. .

That's why most people just don't care to go through 5 or 6 steps, to much work. Nothing comes easy though, so I'll continue using it.. .It's just a good weekend thing to do.

Love the stuff.

Thanks again for the comments. I have yet to see it in the sun though (damn rain) so hopefully I don't have too many misses.
