flowmaster cat-back

I saw this on trucks the other day, and was wondering what you all thought about it. clicky clicky

I am not very happy with my magnaflow after driving with my passenger window down, and stomping on it next to a large wall. It sounds almost like a cherry bomb.

Anyone have this exhaust, or know someone with flowmasters on thier L? I always loved the sound of masters on the old fox body mustangs, and f-150's.

Thanks,
Justin.

I installed the Flowmaster CatBack on my '01 this spring. The sound is great and the 4" dual tips look super clean. The fit up was a 7 out of a 10. The tailpipes didn't seat very well into the outlet of the muffler, but a $20 tack weld job a Midas took care of that. Got mine from Summit Racing for around $300. Very happy with the sound and look! Summit Racing service was great as always.

I was at MIR yesterday and there were about 15 lightnings running....consistently one came up and it sounded like A$$....sure enough, flowmaster.

Not to mention the tips look like poop, IMHO.

I'm sorry, but those mufflers just sound horrible on lightnings, it sounds like a popcorn machine on crack. Buy yourself a bassani!!

i have flowmasters on my 03 L, mine sounds fantastic. does the bassani system give better performance?? & how is the sound compared to the flowmasters??
my system was fabricated by a local muffer shop. the headpipes run through a x pipe then through 2 40 series delta flow mufflers.the outlet is 2 chrome tips 3 1/2 in diameter cut at a angle at exit. if i knew how to post a photo i would. the outlet looks bad ***. later william

If you've got some time, could you post a couple of sound clips (from inside, outside, a drive-by, etc.)? That would probably be the most helpful thing.
BTW, I think your Magnaflow sounds friggin good, Grimace.

Dunno about sound but from everything i've heard flomasters hinder performance on Lightnings fairly significantly.

Thanks yall. I just want louder than what I have right now. We put the bassani on AlmightyWads truck and it sounds great. But I want to **** my neighbors off every time I pull the truck out.

Btw Wad, have you rechecked your muffler clamps?

No. I should've done that when I changed the oil but I'll get around to it soon. Dude, if you want noise, keep the Magnaflow and get headers. Go down to 2 cats. From everything I've read on this forum, you'll get the sound you want. I had the 40 series delta flow on the old F-150 and it wasn't THAT loud. Granted it wasn't an L. Do they sell that Lightning Flowmaster cat-back with the original 40 series (non Deltaflow)? That would be louder.

I have the Bassani catback, Dynatech long tubes, and a high flow mid-pipe. My neighbors HATE me. In fact, I think that everyone within a five mile radius hates me. It's friggin loud! I scare the crap outta people on a daily basis.

You can always count on flowmaster for a good sound. However they rust and arent all that appealing to look at on the truck. We have our Silver bullets in stock ( approx 25-30) to be shipped the day you order. No catback will give you power but at least this one will give you the highest quality sound and looks, not to mention it doesnt rust.

Agree with Jim. And speaking from experience....stay with the Magnaflow. I had dual 40-series "Slow"masters on my truck to begin with with stock manifold. They were killing me performance wise and WOW did they rust away in one year's time!!!! I took them off and intalled long tubes, mid-pipes, 2 high-flow cats and mangnaflow cat-back. AWESOME!!!

My .02....ditch the flowmaster idea....get some long tubes and go with Bassani or Magnaflow
