Removing Snugtop
Removing Snugtop
My friend wants me to help him move. I wanted to say lightnings arent supposed to haul stuff but then I would be voiding the main reason everyone says the L is better then the SRT-10. Plus hes my best friend so I dont want to screw him.
The question be: is it worth it? how hard are snugtops to take on and off?

Well that would depend on whether you have the SL model or not (two locks or one).
The regular snuglid (two locks) takes about 5 min to take off and 15 min to put back on. It takes two men. Pull the pins from the struts, remove the struts, remove the rings from the hinges, tilt the lid up, and pull straight back. Make sure you set the lid on something soft or you will chip the lid! While the lid is off, tighten the hinge screws. The screws were all loose on my Father-In-Law's L when we removed the lid.
The SL model (one lock, auto latch) has the same strut system, but uses an improved hidden hinge. Takes about 5 min to remove and 10 min to put back on. Remove the struts, remove the hinge lock screws, and lift the top straight up.
It's really no big deal. Just be extremely careful not to scratch or chip anything! Make sure you can trust your helper!
