Mobil 1 filter? M-210

Anyone using the Mobil 1 filter (M 210) on their L in lieu of the 820-S Motorcraft one? Any suggestions on a better filter?

Thanks,
Joe

Yeah, I had great results using Mobil 1 5-30 and the M-210 filter on my GT, but am worried about warranty problems if I show receipts to dealership stating 5-30 oil in lieu of 5-20. (I know, I need to get over it and just start modding the hell out of it and screw the warranty.) I wonder if using 5-30 oil would violate the "recommended" 5-20 thing?

Cool, UT. Let us know what they say, if you have a chance. And to play it on the safe side, if "yes, you can use 5-30", have the Service Director put it in writing

I have been using 5w30 since new. No one had 5w20 when the L was new. Its been back to ford for head replacement, it was never questioned! It would be a real reach in fools gold for them to try to use that as an excuse to VOID. The base weight oil is the same its additives that give the second number. Hope this helps! Artie

I understand, Artie, but the one experience I've had with Ford for warranty work was horrible. The majority of service folks (not all) become absolute lawyers when it comes to some things, and they could say "We make Motorcraft 5-20, which you should have used". I wouldnt put anything past them.

I've used Mobil 1 5W-30 since the truck was new and have had no complaints. I switched to Valvoline SynPower a while back and now I am trying to get a hold of some Amsoil. Going to switch out the tranny fluid and diff fluid with the Amsoil full syn as well.

Vinnie the best way to buy Amsoil is to become a dealer. Back in the late 70's early 80's I was using it in my drag cars. It was a much easier way to do it unless you have a good bud you can get it from. I have since found Mobil 1 to fit the bill as well and a lil less costly. By the way Mobil has syn trans and gear lub! Artie
