Need casting number for the L block.

I'm looking for the casting number for a gen II Lightning. Not the Part Number. Salvage yards only know blocks by the casting number. My truck is a 2001. A 2003-04 block is prefered but will consider any year of gen II.

My block has a hole in it. If anyone has a L block for sale please contact me at klundberg@***.net

Thanks,

Kevin

A dealer can give you the latest part number. Even our casting numbers verry.

One thing to remember, the Navigator block is the same as our Lightning blocks.

Good luck, PM me if I can help further.

The salvage yard told me that he has a block with a casting number that begins with S75E. He says that the first 4 digits / letters indicate the vehicle application and this block will work in a F-150 Triton / Navigator / or Lightning. The only difference in the Triton engine is the that the crank is cast where as the other two are forged cranks.

Comments?

HI!... Both my "98" and "99' 5.4's in my regular F-150's have forged steel cranks. Not just the LIGHTNING's got them.

The GenII Lightnings use the exact same block machined to the same specifications as any other 5.4L...only the pistons and pins are unique in the rotating assembly.

The casting prefix you mention isn't for the 5.4 block...those started with "F75E" for the 97-01's. The 02-current block, also known as the NVH block, has a different prefix, and if memory serves me correctly, it is a 2L1E.

The light-duty 5.4's (F150) applications were spec'd out for both cast and forged cranks. Everything else (Lightning, Econoline, Superduty) got the forgings only.
