cleaning oil seperator?

cleaning oil seperator?

does anybody know how to do it? i have the REM setup.

you can either unscrew the "bottle" portion from the base/filter....or you can loosen the bottom "twist seal" and drain it that way

And you can use brake or contact cleaner on the filtering media (the white pumice stone looking part)...spray it after you've removed the 'glass bottle' portion and let it dry.

how often should this be done? like every oil change or what?

I let my rem filter thingy go for about 20k miles before cleaning it the first time. It was pretty gunked up, so now I'm gonna clean it about ever 10k miles.
