twitchy lightning problems

Hey guys yesterday i got rained out of a carshow and as me and all the other cars are leaving in a slow line to get rain checks (1to 2 mph idling )
im listening to my stereo (nothing too crazy just a 300watt amp & 10 inch sub), and all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye i see the speedometer shoot up to like 80 and then back down to 0???? what the heck happened.

Later that day while going around 40-45mph i kick down to 3rd and loose all engine power like all of a sudden i had 80hp instead of 380hp, it only lasted about 5 - 10 second then i stopped for a while to check out the motor for leaks and stuff then after that i put in about an hour more driving with no problems at all, and later that night she was driving fine also.

as a note 2 days earlier i installed a FTVB and took off the negative batt cable for 10-15 mins but i tightend it up real good and it is not loose also check tranny fluid levels and they are good (halfway up the hot area of dipstick)

Any help would be much appreciated guys

thanks

Mine did the same thing a while back. Turned out to be a bad battery. Installed a new one (Sears) and everything is fine now.

Don't know for sure if pitstain has the exact same problem as I did, but I thought it might be my chip too until I noticed that at start-up, the speedo needle would jump up to 60 or so at idle and then drop back to 0. That's a dead giveaway that you have battery problems and it will just be a matter of time (and not much of it) before the bat goes dead.
