FFW GAinesville & New Best

First off I want to says congratulations to Don Justice for winning TT. He's a great competitor & quite the gentleman. Good going!
Also Paul Gamino won Street Ford Sat and Focus Frenzy on Sunday. Another great competitor that I always look forward to seeing at the events.
I myself didn't fair to well in eliminations but set a new personal best. (On stock motor & tranny mind you)

60' 1.59
330' 4.69
1/8 7.29
MPH 94.71
1000' 9.53
1/4 11.42
MPH 118.45

Wanted to try and best it but the weather wasn't favorable Sunday morning so I decided to just concentrate on eliminations.

As always great seeing everyone and look forward to trying to make Virginia.

Eric

Thanks

No, it was on a trailer. 5 people and gear for the weekend just not easy in 2 L's. Plus it's a long tow charge back if something breaks!

Unhappy

Hey I was at Gainesville this weekend. Is it the norm that there are not that many people at these events during the regular season. I was at the season opener at Orlando and it was packed. I mean a ton of vendors and racers. I was very disappointed this weekend at G-ville. There was one L vendor, JDM of course and a field of about 15 or so competators in the TT event. A buddy of mine and I went so that he could enter his L in the car show and there was only 2 other L's there. Well I just looked at it as a wasted trip. I hope that other FFW events around are better than this one. Was it mainly because of weather?

Dave

PS congrats on your run times

I thought maybe the weather had caused it. This was my first Gainesville FFW and i was expecting another Orlando type crowd.

Heck...I know you Florida Folks live, eat, sleep and drink racing. Where were y'all????

We only had 17 in TT........ The "BIG " swap meet I had heard so much about also seemed lacking in attendance.

Maybe the weather did scare a few folks off

For whatever reason, attendance at Gville has sucked the last three times I have been. I think it falls on or just before popular weekends for other races. If I didnt live in Gville, I would have been dissapointed too. I also agree that Orlando/Bradenton has had a much better showing for the Spring Break Shootout. I wish they would move that race to Gville and just nix the June Gville race (or plan it better to not interfere with other races).

Dave,
I agree with you....I hated it that this FFW at Gainsville had a dreary turn out. I was EXTREMELY dissapointed. I belive I counted 16 or 17 TT competitors. And to top it all off....the vendors were a "no-show" at this one. With the exception of JDM. What gives?

Gainesville

I've been every year since 1996 and it has always been a light turn out.Spectator and car count has always been very low,and in my opinion it's just the wrong time of year. It's hot,and could rain at any possible second.

Just look at the world champion Florida Marlins attendance for an example.Nobody is going to go out in the hot/humid could rain any second weather of Florida. Then again if they were passing out $100 bills people would show....maybe.

BTW Congrats to Don J & FoMoCo on the finals.

Turn out was small compared to Atlanta too. Congrats on the 11.42 pass as hot as it was. We were in the carshow area....I was between CASEY02L w/ the black L and Danoid in his fleetside L conversion. I drove my reef blue coupe w/ black wheels. Turns out the last 5 years it has rained which may have had a big impact on turnout.

I think the fact that it rains every year is why a lot of people do not go. Atlanta was much better form the car show to the races. It also seemed like about the time the rain hit on Sunday most of the vendors and a lot of the racers packed it up and left. Kindof disapointing as I had wanted to pick up a few things before I left

Did you really want to visit a certain vendor??? Seems some people need to get into a gym and do some working out. Bolts/drain plugs these days get harder and harder to take out.
