Clunk washers

i'm sure i'll get flamed for this, but i searched every vendors site that i could think of (JLP, JDM, LFP, Outrageous performance, etc), checked the SV's listed at NLOC, and searched but all the links in the threads i read from searching were no longer working

where can i get a set of Herb's Clunk washers?
I read in one post metco was selling them for $25 dollars for a set. whats their web address?

Thanks for the help. I dont have the "clunk" but i have noticed that the bolt has slipped since the undercoating is worn off in the pattern of the washer slipping, so when i put in my hotchkis front springs and go back for another alignment i wanted to install these before hand.

Thanks

Question Sweeet

I think this is the exact same klunk sound I have had for 3 weeks now, and I was spraying the heck out of every suspension joint with silicone lubricant to make it go away

Has anyone tried making Ford responsible for a Herb washer modification under warranty?

Clunk!

Just inject some grease into the ball joints and the clunk will go away. The problem is the ball joints are dry. A front end shop greased my ball joints and the clunk has been gone for 4 years.
You do not need any washers, just some grease and a needle to inject it into the ball joint. Skip

Skip,

Sorry man! But your wrong.....The noise is from the driver's side lower control arm moving. Just take a look at the bolt. You can have some movement of the control arm, and you may have no noise at all.

Not Wrong

I know about the control arm moving! Just tighten up the bolt and inject some grease into the ball joint and the clunk will go away. I know other people that have tried this and it worked for every one of them. A front end shop in Culver City Ca fixed it for me. They knew what to do because they have seen the same problem on many Ford F150s. My clunk was so loud that the neighbors would look when it happened.
It worked for me and others, so if I am wrong, please do not tell my truck! Skip

From: Colorado,
I don't see how anyone would want to take the chance and not get the clunk washer. That big slot is ridiculous.

Not to mention tire wear issues, never mind the clunk!

I got herbs when he was still making them but since then they have gone up to $30 and are SS instead of aluminum. (sorry don't remember who)

For the life of me I can't see why Ford wouldn't spend the money to make that die correct on the assembly line like the passenger side. There must be some use for it on the essbly line.

Ya suppose that might be where they hang the whole frame from a coat hanger and dip it into the frame grease?

I used the Metco version. The 2004 "star washer" already had signs of movement at 1000 miles.
