leaking 99 intercooler

Ok i know this has been covered and talked about 100's of times. My buddy has a 99 that hasnt had the recal done to it. Theother day i helped him put a 4lb pulley on it and noticed his intercooler tank was empty. WE filled it back up with distilled water and one bottle of water wetter. I got to thinking why couldnt or havent i heard of someone running bars stop leak in the intercooler and it should fix the leak. HAs anyone tried this? Should or could it plug the intercooler up? As long as it isnt overdone it shouldnt clog the actual intercoler up. ANy thoughts are apreciated.

I did the Bars Leaks thing on my 99 before I traded it in on the 01. This was before the fix was out from Ford and I read a post about Johnny Lightning doing it on his 99 so I figured why not give it a try. It worked great for the 6 months I had it, didn't lose a drop afterwards.

From: Colorado,
It's not that hard to swap out. I had to do it myslef on my 99.

If your going to keep it don't use the bars leak. The new cooler is a bit bigger and better.

Think about this. If you put bars leak in your radiator and it leaks for a while all that crud just goes on the ground.

If it leaks out you intercooler it is going to go threw your engine and heads doing who know what.

Yes, it sound like it has worked for some but it is no permanent fix and it will probably let go at the most inconvenient time.

You might been thinkin, did I shoot 5 or was it 6 bullets. Go ahead and roll the dice....

or just do the job and be done with it. $700 and 3 hrs labor.

Becarful with the swap....

Because mid 2001 and up supercharger's have a different intake design. If you can, talk to Sal at PSP, he will fill you in on everything you need.

It would be great to get one off a 2002 if it will work.

But, in my research, I'm pretty sure this swap won't work unless you got a supercharger to go with.

I hope this helps.

If I'm wrong, someone chime in.

Later
