Drifting with a Lightning.

Well, I went to my first drift session last night. As a spectator, mind you. I know my limits.

Anyway, it was actually pretty cool. It was amazing the control some of those guys had over their cars. Only problem, was they were *all* imports, except for one old LT1 Camaro. And it looked like a blast.

Anyone know how feasible it would be to go drifting in a Lightning? What special suspension modifications would be required? I'm kinda interested in trying it out, if I can figure out a way to practice, without sending my truck into a wall.

Anyone have any input on this? Would appreciate some help.

Thanks!

Drifiting in an L? Ha. I would be worried about rolling it. So I would say among other things you would want to get it pretty low to the ground. I would say you would be better just buying a beater to learn how to drift in, Ive thought about doing it before.

Don't think a fridge was on the top ten choice list.

Although, if you went with some low profile and skinnier tires it would help.

To specialized. I would get a seperate toy for that.

The concept is what takes me to the sand dunes in my sandrail but in addition we get the front wheels in the air and use our turning brakes to steer. Heheheheheh What a blast!!

I've done it on fun laps during Solo2 events...

Easiest way I set it off...with my suspension, cranked the shocks up to 10...

I was able to four-wheel drift most of the turns pretty easily then.

I think that's what I'll end up doing. I want to get into road racing anyway... I'm looking into getting a track car, probably a Z06, anyway...

It just looked like a helluva good time, and I wanted to get out there and show those imports what good old domestic iron is capable of.

Unfortunately, it would have taken me one corner and about 10 seconds to show everything that I had no clue what I was doing...

I can appreciate the skill it takes to hold a car or truck in a nice 4 wheel drift....

But drifting is about one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. I must be getting old?

What? I know it's not as pure as a road track type of competition. But they do have 2 races per year on road coarses and it is always a real race. It does'nt matter how blingy blingy you look going around with your arm waving at everyone as you go by. It's who crosses the line first.
