Drop Shackles

Hey guys,
I was wondering what drop shackles work the best on the 03/04 Lightnings. I really want to just lower the back to level it out.
Thanks,
Simon

If you check around, you'll note that most recommend the 3" shackle that a few vendors have. This would be due to the increased spring rate in the back with them bringing the payload of the truck up.

Myself, I am going to go with a 2" shackle. I only want to remove a bit from the back and don't mind a slight rake. I am trying to find a set though with grease fittings and urethane bushings....haven't found them yet.

PBGas,

I just greased mine before installing. There is not really any need for a fitting. They don't get noisey like a mustang does.

Thx Rich.

Will do. I figure I'll grab the Bell tech ones.

The Belltech shackles are pretty good. Not much difference I can see in any other brand though. Its just a piece of metal with a bushing at one end..

Relocate your swaybar if you drop the rear. Or buy the 90 dollar set of adjustable end-links.

I like the JLP shackles but the Belltech are really nice also. So I need to relocate my swaybar, if I drop the rearend?
Thanks,
Simon

You don't have to spend money!!??

Just cut 2" out of the middle of your stock end links. Grind a healthy chamfer on both pieces and have someone weld them back together. It's simple, effective, and will noticably stiffen things up.

Did on mine anyway.... Rich

Yes whitebolt you need to reloacate the swaybar when you drop the truck. All I did was level the swaybar and drill new holes in the frame to mount the links.

Ive got an 03 which sits higher in the rear and I installed 2'' shackles for djm,I got about 2'',Then I bought some 2001 rear leafs from a guy I know and put them on.I now sit 1/2'' higher in the rear which is about a 21/2''-3'' drop and never touched my sway bars and havent had a problem yet.Nor did I have any vibration problems eigther.Make sure you grease up the new shackles though,I forgot and had a terrible noise till I realized the dumb -azz mistake I made.I greased um up and have enjoyed them ever since
