I think it could be a cool idea. But my question is why would you want to do that.

I know a turbo uses no hp to run and a supercharger uses about 7 hp but u will loss off the line power. Also they create a huge amount of heat witch you will need a massive intercooler for or you will make much less hp/lb of boost.

like I said before it would be cool to see and i would give praise to anybody who did it right, but i can't see spending that much money when we already make boost with a supercharger. All we have to do is just add a pully or two and see powe gaines, or even buy a aftermarket supercharger and make even more.

Buy hey man your truck your money dude. Drive well, stay safe, and kick a$$.

I think that Grabber truck which you are discribing was Terry at pro-glasses ride, 4.6 with a turbo. I may be wrong but I believe his new ride is a orange Dodge hemi " Turbo " with a functioning air grabber hood ala 1969 roadrunner, running around 600hp. This is just what I've read guys so take it for what it's worth.

Sorry if I repeated a false rumor about Works. I read that they were gone here somewhere. I then heard from REM last week that they could not obtain the 140s any more. I may have jumped to a hasty conclusion.

So, maybe Works is still in business. But what good does that do if you can't get a supercharger from them?

50 have been produced? Really? Have they been sold in the United States? All persons who know someone with a 140 on his truck, please stand up and be counted.

Can you buy one today? Where?

If the answer to that question is "no," then the subtext of my post (Works is OOB) is incorrect, for which I apologize, but the primary thrust (one of the three options enumerated is not real) is still correct.

Anyone?

There is one in so-cal being put together. It will be twin T-72's to promote faster spool, low rpm TRQ. The fabricator involved used to work for Dan Gurney years ago. He has produced several 6sec turbo cars so it should be interesting................

damn

i would immagine you would need a pretty large turbo for it to be affective on such a heavy truck........but it would be interesting to see how quickly these would spool up and is it enough to get these bricks moving??? Is there even enough room down there in the engine bay to do this effectivly??? Will it out perform the roots blower.......twin screw.......or even a csc kit??

Jesus, i'm beginning to sound like the guy on the old batman series???

Yes, yes, and yes. But most would dismiss the results for one reason or another.

There are plenty Gen 1 Lightnings running turbos. They seem to do just fine They are a little lighter though, also there are a few Chevy trucks ripping it up with a turbo.

Would like to know just how much instant responce we would lose. I know they make big power up top so running a good et would be a given. Just would hate to lose that big block type instant hit.

just so no one gets confused, no such thing as free power, turbos do take power to run, and i'm pretty sure its more than 7 hp for any blower system.

I think turbos are definately contenders on the street, as for quartermile. . i dunno, but my guess is if you went all out with a twin screw and all out with a turbo chances are the turbos gonna pull ahead, dunno for sure, just a guess .

I was going to same almost the same thing.

I'm not trying to be an a$$, but the faster you spin the eaton, the more power it takes.
7hp? Umm NO. More like 70hp to spin the eaton to ENGINE 5000 Rpms. (depending on the pulley you use, you reach a point of dimishing returns.)

yeah, i don't know exactly how much power it takes but im guessing your about right. I don't think it's as high as 70 hp, hell im not even sure if hp is the proper way to measure it, but its definatly more than 7.

Turbos are neat!

Here is a vid of my tuners turbo mustang from when he broke the Outlaw 10.5 record back in 2000:
MMurilloRun.mpeg (3.91 MB)

He hasn't raced since 2002 but he is coming back this season. Here is a vid of the guy that broke his record: 200MPHMillen.mpeg (3.85 MB)

He is a great tuner but if you ask me you have to be one crazy **** to drive a 1600 hp car with only 10.5" slicks on the back!
