...A few thoughts about JDM and a problem I had with the L

I am not one to come on the boards and bash a vender every time something goes wrong or even start 50 threads with thanks this and good job that, but this is going to be one of those rare times. We have all probably bought something from just about every Lightning parts vender on this board (and some not on this board) and have had good and bad experiences. Sorry about the long post.

Here's the story... I took my Lightning to work Friday, ran a few errands at lunch and went to the hand car wash. After I got out of there I drove about a mile and it felt like the truck died for a split second but came back on again. Then a couple of seconds later the tach started sweeping and did it again, then stalled. I coasted into a driveway and started to look at things. Of course the first thing I did was pull the chip since I had a problem in the past of the truck not starting, but it never happened while it was running. Anyway, disconnected battery and chip, and tried all different combinations, but could not get it to run. The Theft light was blinking fast so I called Wayne Ford which was right up the street and they said I had to have the truck towed in there to reprogram the pats. Other than Downs Ford , I have had (and heard about) bad experiences with dealers. Since it is not under warranty anymore, I called Anthony@JDM. I figured they were the most knowledgable about these trucks around and had the ability to do just about anything. Anthony spoke to Jim and we finally decided that I couldn't do anything else being stuck so we had to have it towed there (about 70 miles rather than 3 to Wayne Ford). Now I have bought most of my mods from JDM but I am certainly not considered to be a whale (in casino terms) like fast gator, vinne or don's bolt. In the back of my mind I was thinking that I wasn't going to get the L back in time for FFW and that no matter what the problem is was going to be a G.

I got the call from Anthony today that it is all done. Turned out to be a blown fuse by the battery junction box or something. I have always heard wind noise since I got the truck so maybe water got in there this time or something. I really appreciated the fact that they fit this work in so quick for one of their smaller customers. I really needed help on this one and they came though big time. I read the post from Vinne when Terry from Pro Glass blew his motor or whatever happened and he got a new one installed in a couple of days (I figured spending thousands of dollars has it's perks in their case). I am happy that the little guy got the same treatment as some of their biggest customers. I have an idea of what their work schedule is like down there and when it takes a month to schedule a dyno tune, you know things are busy, and I can't imagine what it is like the week before FFW to the JDM crew! See y'all at FFW in Englishtown

Glad they could help, and glad you got the truck running again! They once diagnosed my truck from the side of the road, via cell phone held up to the engine!

Cool beans. Glad they got you straightened out.

I think a fitting test drive would be to take a trip to Paterson. Since you're in the neighborhood, you may as well pick up some 104 for your pal.

Good to hear you got awesome service.

The reason I have spent so much money with JDM is the fact that I got treated great since the first time I was ever there only spending peanuts (CAI, 4# lower, Boost by-pass and I brought a USED flip chip that Jim burned for FREE).
They have had my business ever since.

You guys have to drop your fuel jugs off if you want fuel. I may not be going until friday afternoon.

Can't wait to see what this SCT Tuner is all about

Glad it wasn't anything major. Reminds me of Vinnies problem, he thought he was going to be out of commision for a while. It turned out he was just grounding out his battery or something like that.

See you this weekend

Btw.......

Mentioning my name with Vinnie and Don's Bolt, is like comparing Budweiser to Don Perignon.

Its two completely different leagues, kinda like Rob02's brain cells and Albert Einstein's brain cells

On friday my odometer had all dashes, my theft light was blinking, it would crank but not start and before it died, the guages kind of went haywire. After troubleshooting a little on the side of the road, they had thought my processor fried. SO they ordered a processor just in case and luckily it turned out not to be that. I know of a few local car repair shops and Ford dealers who would have put the new processor in just because it was ordered and they can make a few more bucks on it. They said the programs on the chip got wiped out but the chip was still good. But instead of reburning the chip I decided to go with the SCT Tuner because I have had problems in the past with the chip not seating properly and the truck not starting.

Gator, you're not right sometimes. Hey missed you at RJ's last week. Candice was looking for you.
