I'm thinking plasma, followed by some quality time with my new 4" electric angle grinder. I don't have access to air tools, don't own a Sawzall, and wouldn't know a die grinder if it was in my toolbox.

BUT, where does one find plasma cutters? What kind of shops use them?

My vote goes here. Use a lennox brand blade all others suck.

if you don't own a sawzall, go buy one, aint too expensive, and probably far more useful than a plasma cutter. I don't know anything that can't be fixed with a sawzall.

More up to date welding shops will prob. have a plasma cutter. If it were me, I'd pick up a sawzall at a flea market or something.

Get some sandpaper and sand it down!

Actually, I'd find a shop with a plasma cutter, and spend my time on other things.

Yup. And I also need to have the rest of the bed support over the diff cut off (very hard to reach), so somebody has to be doing some cutting around there anyway.
