Question Best paint for calipers?

Hey, I don't torch the brakes bad enough to need Brembos, or anything larger than stock for that matter. But I do like the look of red calipers peeking out from the rims on these trucks. What is a good paint and clearcoat combo, that can be cleaned easily once the brakedust builds up? Has to be can based too...don't have a sprayer or compressor. Also, can it be bought at a local auto store? And what is the best way to go about this? Thanx all...

I painted my calipers with regular ole high temp brake paint.I did it 6 months ago (paint only) with no clear and its starting to flake off.The spray went on really light and it took me about 5 coats to get them covered.I belive that paint is coming off due to the fact that I wash my truck at least twice a week and use degreaser on the wheels.Bye the way I bought the paint at a AutoZone for about $5.00.

You can actually see the red calipers on my truck in my SIG belowe

Does this need to be clearcoated? Or is it tough enough on its own?

I saw some caliper paint at Advance this past weekend. I think it was $15. Had it in a few different colors, looked like pretty good stuff.

I painted my calipers about a year ago with a paint system that I can't recall, ran about 20 dollars. It was a hand paint system and you had to mix the paint and the hardener before aplication. From a distance they look good but up close you can see bubeling, not from the heat but from the paint sticking to the caliper. Before I painted them it took a couple hours to really clean all that dust off. I'm happy with my results.

I went to Pep Boys and bought Ford Red 206 high temp paint and high temp clear. Multiple coats of both and have not had a problem.

I have pics in my gallery, I have no idea how to post pics because I am a moron.

I bought a pint of Rustoleum bright red for about $7.00. I brushed it on so I didn't hve to remove the calipers or worry about overspray. Two coats and it is thick and smooth. Did calipers on a car and the truck, enough left to do 2 or three more cars. Hasn't discolored, peeled, etc. in a year. Cheap and easy.

Hey Quick..I really likin' the idea of just brushing it on...seems like I could control the thickness more accurately. You wouldnt have any pic of the post paint results would ya?

$8, spray can, VHT (brand name) - high temp paint (the can says good to 900 degrees - if you buy that?).

I did this last June, great red (they have other colors) no chipping, flaking - easy to wash - absolutely no complaints.

D-Day
