Picked up 4hp/14 tor . . .
Same dyno? Same day? Same correction factors? Engine either fully warmed up or completely stone cold each time? Nothing else changed? Both filters brand new?

Did you do three back-to-back runs for each configuration and then average them (or better yet, throw out the high and the low)?

lost 3hp/5tor . . .
Same questions. Plus, now we've changed two things at once -- a violation of the scientific method. Who knows? Maybe the paper filter would have gained power if not for the valve cover filter (whatever that is).

When you are talking about such tiny increments (3 rwHP is less than 1% of the power being made), it is essential to do multiple pulls for a fair comparison. You can get a 3 rwHP difference between pulls changing nothing at all.

I know all of this sounds picky, and I don't mean to imply that you were sloppy, and dumbass, or whatever. Sometimes you get an opportunity for a pull and you take it.

If we were talking 50 rwHp gains or losses, you don't need to be so careful. But as you approach the margin of error for a test, you gotta get ****.

[Uh, oh, there goes that Skelton getting all technical again]

Tim Yes all the Same dyno, Same day, Same correction factors.
Each pull was right after one another. only cool down time was to change the parts which was not much time. I am just trying to learn what to do and what not to do, when it comes to stuff like this. Its just a curiosity thing.

"average them (or better yet, throw out the high and the low)?"

No I did not. It was one of those dyno days that shops do. so everyone only got 3 pulls for a certain price. I was just trying to play around with it.

Thanks for the advice Tim, your right you got to be more picky on how you do things.
