2 whines?

Under part throttle I hear a second higher pitched whine. Not as noticeable as the typical blower whine. It doesn't sound anything like a bad bearing though. In fact it almost has an electrical sound to it. Sort of sounds like a noisy inline fuel pump. It's not coming from the rear. At wot and once I get at least a few psi of boost it goes away.

Anyone else hear a similar noise on their 04. I have no mods and only 750 miles. The noise has been there since day one. I have a good idea the dealer won't have a clue, so as usual i'll probably have to diagnose the problem myself.

A lot of people were having a whine come from their radio, maybe you had it on, or maybe the fans on the rear of the radio were engaged?

Is your wife/GF riding in the bed? That would explain the whine coming from the back.

When I added my BaBolt throttlebody, I got that nice noise. I like it.

It's not belt whine from a Gatorback belt is it? That seems to be very common if you have an upgraded pulley and belt.

It is mostly heard at light throttle and slow speeds. I personally love it. Sounds like a jet turbine.

It's not the radio. That is an entirely seperate noise. I thought it might be at first, until I turned it off.

Not the girlfriend either. That would be an annoying whine. this one isn't bad, I just want to make sure everything is functioning properly.

No Gatorback or pulley yet.

Could possibly be an intake noise.

Maybe it's a bad idler bearing. I'm at the dealer and I'll be taking a test drive with the tech. Either way I'm going to pull the blower belt and see how everything spins. I've had bad idler bearings on other applications and they make all sorts of odd noises when going bad.

I would remove the blower belt and see if that thats care of the noise. You are right about the idler pulleys

I drove with the shop foreman and he heard it before I did! Usually in this sort of case it's like pulling teeth. He said it was from the alternator. Still going to pull the belt though.

It's not an uncommon occurance for a non - greased (or slightly greased) FEAD bearing to start making noise at about the 500 - 1500 mile mark. I've seen it many many times. Ford will cover it if so.

I had the same thing and it turned out to be a vacuum leak from stupidly re-using the throttle body gasket.

It is the air passing through the supercharger. At 0 boost or just below, it will whistle almost like a turbo. Mine does this, and it seems to be normal. I noticed it the day I bought it.

Tell me more about the FEAD bearing. Where is it located?

LOL... FEAD stands for "front end accessory drive". It's a way of genericaly saying anything in the "belt" system. Water pump, alternator, idler pullies, ect..
