Holy crap. I wish my truck wasn't white now. I've always been envious of the sonic blue trucks, but that black on black is sweeeeet.

what would be the best thing to do, paint the rims black, or have them powdercoated black?

Powdercoating is good on wheels because it's a harder finish than just regular paint. Now does that mean it's better than painting your wheels...not necessarily. If you paint them your choice of color and then put several coats of clear on top they should be just about as durable as the powdercoat and probably have more shine to them. With my experience with the black wheels I couldn't see anything less durable than powdercoating holding up though... Also the darker the color the easier it is to see the chips from road debris.

One of these days, I'm going to powder coat my race wheels (stock 02s) in gunmetal gray (the color of the 05 concept L wheels). I that would look even better on a black truck than black.

The wheels were powdercoated and the center caps were painted. I should know because they were on my black 01' If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.
