Electrical Problem, Fuse Box (electric GURU's HELP)
Electrical Problem, Fuse Box (electric GURU's HELP)
My A/C hasn't been working and I found the problem.
The Fuse in the fusebox under the steering column is LOOSE.
and I mean loose, if I hit a bump it falls out!
The fuse is not blown, however the only way it will work is while the truck is running I hold it in there.
It is one of the small spade type fuses.
HOW CAN I FIX THIS?
I'm guessing the metal clips that hold (squeeze) it in there are spread apart or weren't pushed all the way in to LOCK them in during the build.
has anyone taken the fusebox off and looked at if from the other side (wire side)????
Anyone have a picture of it?
Any help would be appreciated. I really don't want to shove a paper clip in there or something else to take up the extra space caused by the metal clip being seperated.
It is too Tight to look up there with a flashlight (in the slot) to see what exactly is wrong. So hopefully someone on here knows how they are clipped in or fastened in there.

I'm sure someone will post a better fix than this, but here goes:
I had the same problem and just thickened the fuse by putting some solder on it. Worked fine and never had a problem with it again. I wasn't comfortable pulling the fusebox out.

I've had this happen on another vehicle before!
I took 2 needle nose pliers and bent the fuses spades such that they had a little crown to them. (cross ways).
It effectively does the same thing as adding solder or using a thicker metal.

I just did the same thing to my 2000 f150, i just laid solder on the fuse and kept adding solder till it fit snug.. worked good........
i didn't have any solder, so I bent the very ends of the fuse and it worked!
I thought I'd have to tear the entire thing out and fix the wire from the opposite side.
THANKS GUYS.
