Need so help before I sign.

Boy, first post and its a long one!

I need some help guys, I don't know alot about lightning just cobras. So here goes, I've been to my local svt dealer which they have a 99 lightning. Heres the scoop; 78,000 miles, lower & upper pulleys (got 14 to 15 psi while driving), chip (I'd hope so didn't check), a cat-back exhaust (don't know which one), stock intake, 2 pod pillar gaugess a/f and boost, lowered ALOT (which I like), stock rims painted black which actualy looks good, truck is black & paint looks great someone took realy good care of the paint and interior, bed doesn't have a bed linear and shows wear, tires are in good shape and drives strong but steering is a little off. The best I can get them down is 17,500, but I'm worried about those miles and I not knowing if they were all done with all that extra power. I don't know how long these motors last with mods? Please let me know what you think. Thanks Brad

i paid $17,000 for my '99 Lighting in January of 2003 and it had 3000 miles.

I'd say 75000 miles more for $500 more is NOT a bargain.

Kinda high mileage, I'd personally pass.

No, you'd be getting ripped off. Keep looking, there are better deals out there.

I bought my 99 with 20K miles in Feb, for $18,500. That seems way to high for me with those miles.

Check this guy out... it's where i bought mine. www.performanceautosport.com Ask for Mark. He mostly deals in Saleen mustangs and Lightnings. (drives one himself) The business is located in Richmond, VA right off of I-64. This guy is awesome to do business with, he doesn't play the negotiation game... just asks a fair price no BS. He's very meticulous about the quality of the vehicles he sells, all of them have low miles. Do yourself a favor and check out his websight. Now that i've done all his advertizing for him i'll take a seat now E-mail me if you have any Q's MHromyak@nc.rr.com

It had a court ordered boot on the tire due to the owners 3rd drunk driving. after 3 years, He got sick of making payments and put it up for sale. Of course no one ould buy it because they couldn't test drive it (still had boot on it) Being a friend I told him I would give him $17,000.00 as is for it. about 3 weeks later he called me up and said Fine. I had to go to court to tell the judge that I was buying it and I was not going to sell it back to him right after i bought it.
a week later it was parkd in my garage with a tad over 3000 miles..

ONLY PROBLEM.
all four F1's had flat spots due to not being moved for 3 years.

THe interior still smelled new.
(still does to this day and it is a '99)

If you owned it and took it to a dealer for trade-in, you would get maybe $10k. (The 99 with big miles and mods)

If you could get them down to 16,500, I'd do it. It sounds like it is sharp and well taken care of (oil changes, etc). If he was running that boost for awhile, it's got a good drivetrain in it with a good tune. My miles are high, running that boost for over 30k of them, and still rips. You couldn't pay me to trade in on a different L (brand new included). You get a good one, you keep it and do backflips. Too many go up in flames due to defective components (or bad tunes). Try to get an owner history on it and talk to the previous owner/s. I personally wouldn't dismiss this one right away.
