Question help with sluggishness

My 2001 L seems to be running sluggish lately.

I used to be able to go from a dead stop to WOT, and just put the rear tires up in smoke. Now it seems to be a little sluggish off the line (much harder to spin the tires). Once I get going I believe all the power is there, just not off the line.

It also seems to be a little weak on the downshifts from about 40 mph. it used to snap my neck back, and now it seems a little weaker.

the engine feels strong, but it almost feels like the tranny is slipping (the shifts are still firm, though)

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Check trans fluid and replace fuel filter. Could be a lot of things, but those 2 are easy to start with.

What TWR said............ And, doing power-downshifts like that can/will cause tranny problems. Yes, it's fun but you are putting a great strain on the components.................and you may have to pay for that now .

My 2000 is currently at ford with burnt clutches between 1st and 2nd gears. I'm not sure if my power downshifts caused the problem, but i'm sure it didn't help.
