I had them on mine for a while. It's a good, hard tire and will last you for some time. The downside is that the traction is terrible.

I actually had the 305/55/18. I had my chip corrected for the extra height. The extra sidewall was good for avoiding scraped bumpers on low curbs, and lifted the truck up just enough to make it feel more like a truck. But the height also meant more sidewall flex and poor handling. I liked the tire because it lasted forever and was relatively cheap. What you havent mentioned is what your priorities are in a tire. Rank the following in order of importance:

Price
Tread Wear (life span)
Wet Handling
Cornering Grip (sweepers, cloverleafs, entrance ramps)
Transient response (lane change, slalom, emergency maneuvers)
Straight line grip (stoplight derby, 1/4 mile)
Noise level
Ride height (appearance)

I have the Nitto 404 Extreme Force tires on my Lightning but I have the 305/40-20 size.

So far I love the tires..traction, wet weather, everything....I give them a big

if you want treadwear to be the most important, then get toyo tires in the 295/45/18. the cheapest place i have found is treadepot.com, a part of kauffman tire based out of atlanta georgia. they are about $179 + $10 per tire shipping. this tire has a 420 treadwear. go to toyos website to get the exact name of the tire. "A "TEMP AND "A" TRACTION. i have them on my truck. they came on the truck when i bought my 01 used last year. agressive side wall with im guard protector. the rim sits flush with the tire and protects your wheels a little better also. agressive looking tread also. they look much better than goodyears. goodyeas ae to soft as you know. you will not get the traction at take off like the goodyears, but from what you are saying, you want to have good treadwear

also korean based hankook tire came out with our correct size back in january. you can get them for $150 per tire at 1010tires.com, or if you have a pep boys near you, then can order them due to they sell hankook tires. i was really surprised to see hankook tires on alot of the 2004 f-150 trucks. i went to a dealership in gainsville ga an saw most of the 2004's with hankook tires on them. this tire has a 420 treadwear also. also has" A" EMP AND" A "TRACTION. i do not think 1010tires.com has a picture of them, but you can go to hankooks website and see a picture. they look very good
