blaaating magnaflow @ wot

I think that I have heard others comment on this beore. My Magnaflo muffler sounds great everywhere except at wot, where it blats. Sounds like the exhaust can't get out fast enough. Has anyone found a fix for this ( other than switching to Bassani )?

So I guess it isn't any different than my Borla after all.

Borla sounds awesome at part throttle and cruising but blats a bit at wide open throttle.

I think a "duel" is when you have a shootout or swordfight or something like that.

I have two large magnaflow mufflers (came w/ JDM full system)

I have never been totally satisfied with the sound.

it's loud for sure, and lots of people love it. lots of my buddies tell me I should NOT change it.

however, I have a similar "blat" sound or what I call a generally "muddy" tone to the exhaust IMHO.

the bassani is more of a "crisp, tighter" sound.

I'd like to switch back to bassani.

just my .02

later,
chris

I have found the opposite. I had the Bassani dual cat backs and did not appreciate the tinny sound (still a good sound). When I heard the single (internal X pipe) Maggy - I had to have it and did just that. I have the dynatech longtubes and high flow single cats. Whether it be low, med or WOT my sound is awesome - sounds more ballsey than brappy to me.

Its the same deal with no mufflers, just a straight pipe. Half-throttle sounds mean, but WOT sounds like absolute garbage.

I believe it has to do with the flow characteristics of our pre-cats and cats.

If you do long tubes with high-flow cats and a Bassani/Magnaflow, the sound will be much more "rounded" and mean, and not so tinny and "brappy".

The only problem is that importing long tubes will cost me about 2g USD!

My single Magnaflow JDM c/b sounds great at all speeds---when I can hear it over the s/c'r .

I have the maggy cat back with the two high flow converters mid pipe and love the sound. I put both on at the same time so I don't know what it would sound like with just the cat back.
