Moving On

i havent been on here in a while so i thought id let you all know what i have been up to...

January - was driving home from work one night and hit a patch of black ice (yeah, in vegas) jumped a curb sideways and destroyed the underside of my truck. broke the rear axle and all of the suspension components. taneau cover went flying and was destroyed, and front bumper was pretty badly scratched up.

February - got truck back better than ever. all new billstein suspension. new rearend w/ 3:73 gears, i had all the black plastic pieces painted silver, new taneau cover.

March - got a big theater job in Palm Springs, CA. took about 6 trips down there. the first five i did in my Tahoe. the last trip was just to work out some final bugs, so i decided to take the lightning. on the way home i was having sooo much fun. no cars on these windy back roads, so i was just racing along. get to the freeway back into vegas and start playing some cat and mouse with about 3 other cars. hit the gas one time (not WOT) and hear pop pop pop. i knew imediately - blown plug.

it was sunday in this little one horse town about 80 miles outside of vegas. which means no service station. i managed to scrape together enough socket set pieces to get the plug back in the head enough to get me home. had the injector unplugged the whole way so the truck was acting up like crazy. but i got it home.

talked to the service writer and explained my situation. out of warrenty and lots of mods on my truck. he told me to just get it in there and he would see what he could do.

called me back a couple of days later and told me that he had talked to ford and that they had agreed to pay 1/2 for the new head and repairs to my truck, even with all the mods on it. (including aftermarket plugs)

got the truck back a week later. but something didnt feel right...the truck ran fine but still, something wasnt right. i was worried every time i drove it that something else was going to go wrong.

On April 20th, i sold her. she had 40,000 miles on her all from me. stripped the parts and got $20,000.

the next day i bought a 2004 Chevy 1500 4x4. got a lift kit ordered already and some big wheels and tires. its a lot more practicle for work and to haul my boat and quads.

it was the most fun truck i have ever owned and i feel like a douche bag in the new truck (it just isnt the same)

anyway...it was fun knowing all of you over the last 2 years. i hve learned more from you guys then i could have ever imagined.

all the parts are listed in the clssifides under the heading "2000 lightning parts for sale" i hope they can help some of you achieve your goals with your truck.

so, if you ever see a white chevy pickup trying to keep up, its probably FastAsL

Don't be a stranger, come by every once in a while to this board. I know the feeling, i'm in the process of trying to sell my 2000 as well and dont even drive it anymore, lurk around this board still every once in a while though. It is a fun truck, but sometimes all the problems they have just get to be too much, electrical problems, blown sparkplugs, fog light cracks, seat wear ... i dont need to go on.

Anyway good luck with your new truck!

Ryan
