Thumbs up Another Monster Comes Out of Shop PSP

We had a pretty wild truck on the dyno today. It's not really anything that other 10 second trucks don't already have, but it was a Works 140 truck, so I figured people might be interested to see how it performs.

This was a 2000, with most of the 10 second hardware- built motor, PSP heads/cams, roll cage, fuel cell, stand alone fuel system, 55lb injectors, Ford 90mm MAF, long tubes with 3" exhaust, and the Works 140, round out the major parts.

We started with a street tune. Using a 3lb lower, and 3" upper, the truck made 17 psi. I limited the timing to 15 degrees, and kept the A/F in the low 11s. With this combo, we got 550 rwhp and 583 ftlbs.

For the race tune, we swapped the 3lb lower for a 6lb lower. I corrected the A/F and rasied the timing up to around 20 degrees. On this combo, we netted 611 rwhp and 636 ftlbs.

BTW, these are SAE numbers. STD correction was 630/660.

The torque band on this thing is increadible. The peak numbers are not high, but torque barely drops off through the run. On the street tune, torque was still 530 ftlbs at 5600 rpms, and on the race tune, torque was still 565 ftlbs at 5600 rpms! This truck should pull like a freight train.

The funny thing was during datalogging, I noticed the MAF pegged 5 volts as soon as you mashed it. That's some serious airflow .

The customer just wanted to pull some 6s in the 1/8. I think he's got a pretty good shot of it. And he's got a 100 shot in reserve on top of this.

Figured since there's not much 140 data out there, people would have liked to see this info. Of course I asked the customer if it was ok to post it first .

Thats great to know Sal

While the KB is a killer blower, I just don't like the answers the factory gives me when I ask about "problems" that have shown up with that blower. I've have been told, to my ear, that there have been NO problems with the front nose cone, yet I know of a couple first hand

Tell your customer.........sweet numbers

Very nice numbers! I dont think 6's in the 1/8th will be much of a problem.

Now put the 8lb lower pulley on it and see what she does!

Sal, great job!

What did that thing sound like with the 3" exahust?

It seem to have mad torque and I was told that with the larger OD exhaust you lose torque?

Peace, Suavy

you would only loose torque if was too big for the application. the exhaust needs to be tuned for the motor (mostly seen in full race applications). its kinda like a turbo, too big and you get lots of lag, too small and it chokes.

Awesome numbers. Makes my numbers look like a VW. That kind of sucks. I'll bet all I need is money and I could have those numbers too.

availability

Love that torque curve ... or line .. or whatever

I saw on another board that PSP is no longer selling works blowers. Did I miss something?
