LMAO! well Gator you are now the tuner! why dont you enlighten us? Now you access to all you DTC codes, and the ability the play with the EEC systems. very nice!

The big question which you can answer to yourself is do you have all the knowledge of Fords EEC system there capabilities? or are you on the learning curve? Im not trying flame you but having the ability to tune and knowing how to are two completly different things! That also goes for the ability to scan DTC's. Knowing the codes does not mean you know the problem!

Ive been a mechanic for 20 sum odd years seen many thing come and go! I do like what the SCT has to offer but I also think that its going to cause many a folk problems! So again I say good luck you have a lot to learn!

LOL

The SCT doesn't have the ability to"alter" the tune that has been programmed into it, unlike some of the other hand held tuners. I completely agree that its going to be a world of trouble for those who alter tunes without the knowledge of the EEC.

But I do know that I don't have a clue on how to tune a Lightning. Thats why I pay a "Tuner" to tune my truck. I have the ability with the SCT to change from a street tune (93 Octane) to a race tune (103 Octane) and back at the track. I have also removed the problems associated with bad connections.

I also agree that knowing a code doesn't automatic fix the problem. But knowing the code, is the first step in solving the problem. If it's replacing a sensor or asking questions, its a good start in the right direction

I've also been a welder for 25+ years and have seen plenty myself And still learn something everyday, may it be about my trade, my truck or the barmaid down the street.
But thanks for the good luck wish

Hey Gator, nice piece. Some of us L owners have been doing our tunes via the Predator for some time now. They seem to work very much the same. Just plug it in and answer the questions.

Hey Rob, the button you need says ADD TIMING!. I know there's no maybe answer to that question.

While the preadtor allows you to change certain aspects in the engine command, the SCT does not. The SCT only loads the custom tune that your tuner provides to you.
While I know many members what to add timing and such (wink-wink) I'll leave that up to my tuner to alter factory setting.

It's a real nice unit and fool proof way to change your tunes. And it also lets you return your truck to stock. For any reason that may come up.
Call Anthony, as he can probably answer any questions better than me :-))) 732-780-0770

One thing we haven't talked about is getting a new tune or fixing a tune. Bruce and I are close enough to JDM that we just drive over and get it fixed. Most don't have that option. They have to pull the chip and mail it in for a reburn.Wait and drive chipless. Or wait until the tuner is visiting their area to get a reburn.
With the 9100 you can have a new tune downloaded via the internet. That's right. You can have a new program sent to you without having to pull the chip and send it in. There is no chip to reburn!
(1)Download to your computer. (2)Upload to the 9100. (3)Plug in a new tune.

Ok, since Gator is trying to nudge me along to buy something else for my truck I have a question that I don’t think I have seen an answer for yet…

Mart Man 03L:

You might be able to help here. Ok, so when plug in and do these uploads/downloads does it leave any “tell-tell” signs when Ford needs to plug in for troubleshooting? I realize you can put the tune back to the factory program BUT can the service tech., field rep or any other Ford God tell that it has had a program uploaded/downloaded, like time stamp, date stamp, some kind of stamp?

If so then it would be about as useless as a chip for those of us that have dealers that say ”If you ever bring it in for warranty were are GOING to look for a chip”

Still hoping my Bedrug don’t cause any warranty issues…
