Talking Thanks Johnny Lightning!

Over the winter I put together a new engine combination. I ran into a few problems with the engine shop I was dealing with so I called up Johnny and purchased one of his shortblocks. I had it the next day! I finally got the engine together and drove out to Johnny & Sue's shop this past Friday. We put it on the dyno and made sure the a/f were good and it pulled 525rwhp and 589rwtq. The race side was higher but thats for me and John to know! This is with a 11.2-11.3 a/f, & very conservative street tune, 94 octane fuel. The air was terrible, 83 degree inlet temps and high humidity. Peak boost only 14.5 lbs.
my mods
JLP shortblock
JLP stage 3 cams
Patriot Performance heads
Apten ported blower
longtube headers w/ cats
magnaflow exhaust
stock tranny w / JLP valvebody
and the other common bolt ons.

So Saturday I was off to Cecil county for a couple of shake down runs. The L was pulled in off the street with no cool down, no weight reduction, no kind of chassis tuning, on drag radials, still had tools and luggage in the back. My 1st. run was a very easy pass, I left the line like I was driving in snow. 1.95 60ft. 12.20 @115mph. So I get back in line. I pull up and they put me in the opposite lane . I come out a little harder this time, pulling hard in 3rd and then bam it shifts into o/d. 1.89 60ft. 11.91@ 117mph. I was very happy with this performance considering the way the L was set-up, hot off the street.
Thanks Johnny and Sue for the all the help and hospitality, This is going to be one great race season.

Rob I have already been 11's. Just this was the first on radials. I am hoping for low 11's on slicks in race trim.

Man take that L in the low 11s with those Nittos, it will do it. I am glad to see others using the Nittos to make good numbers. That is all I ever used, and now it's good to see others doing the same. I will try slicks this week and see how things go....BTW great times .
