Thumbs up New personal best-------but only 1/8 mile

I don't know what I have to do to get my long awaited 10 second run.

I have allready had 3 runs that would have been 10 second runs, if I hadn't been bracket racing and had to hit the brakes.

I tried to get into the 10's twice last year, and once the track sucked, and the other time my plugs were gapped wrong.

Well today I headed to the track to do some testing. I was running my street program and wasn't even thinking of running a personal best. Due to the strong rains last night and this morning there was a little moisture at the 1000 foot mark of the track they decided to run 1/8 mile. I allmost went home, but decided to practice my reaction times.

The first run was a 7.029 @97.40 I was like damn that is about the best I have ever done in the 1/8. I was thinking that might have been a 10 second run if I could have run it out. So the next run I tried launching harder but just went up in smoke. The 3rd run I went back to my normal launch and ran a 7.041@ 98.31

Then the next run I did this, I am on the right

When I saw that run I just said to myself WTF. Why did they have to make us run the 1/8 mile. That was my 10 second run that I have been waiting for for a year.

Well I now know that the new suspension work I did this past winter will give me my 10 second run. Last year with 4 more lbs of boost and my race chip I was only able to run a 11.023

Becides the suspension work I haven't changed a thing.

So look out when I get to E-Town for FFW next month. If they have a test and tune session I am going to turn the boost up, put in my race chip and see what the beast will do.

Congrats on the new best. I was just wondering why you skipped Houston in the last statement? Are you not going to be in Houston? Heck, the track there is about as good as, the "Cecil mod".

Thanks I am real happy with how it ran today.

I would love to go to houston, but after Orlando and Atlanta I need a little break. Also Houston is allmost 2000 miles from me, and I am a little broke from the last two events.

Congrats, Don! 10s for sure.

We met at JDM last spring on a Saturday when I was there getting my chip reburned. Evan Smith was there that day. Him and Jim had just gotten back from buying a bunch of computer equipment when I got there. You gave me the grand tour of your truck. Look forward to seeing you run at FFW. I'll have just gotten my dyno tuning done by Jim and crew so I'll be looking for some new bests as well.

Well, that sucks. Houston is only about 4 or five hours from me, so off I go. I found out what caused my slick to go flat just before the third round. There was metal shavings left in the wheel by the folks that did the screws for me .
I can't remember the name of your friend that noticed the flat, but thank him for me. He saved me from really screwing up bad. I owe him a couple cold ones.
I will see you at E-Town Don. I expect you yankees to be prepared to show us sutherners how to really party

So, Do we get any info on this new suspension setup? Some extra traction sure wouldn't hurt; especially after a lack of traction ruined my outing at FFW in Atlanta.

There is nothing real special about my setup
Bell Tech 1 inch lowering front springs
Bell tech rear shackles
QA1 front shocks
Double adjustable rear shocks, I think for you the standard QA1 rears would be perfect for you.
30x10.5-15 radial hoosier slicks- I think those are the real secret to my 60 foot times.

Actually yesterday since they were only running 1/8 mile I got lazy and didn't even remove my sway bar or adjust the shocks. I just left the shocks in the street setting. I know everyone says to remove the front sway bar, but it never has seamed to help me when I remove it. With a 1.52 60 foot time I think I might just leave it on from now on, as the truck is more stable in the top end with it on. I am starting to think removing the front sway bar to improve your 60 foot time is a midth.

My thoughts exactly!!!

Anyway, congrats Don! I feel for you...you will get the ten soon...you have proved to have a strong truck, and are an excellent driver...you'll get it.

BTW...I've never seen NED run 1/8 mile, whats up with that? Did they decide at 17 bucks to get in, and 200 dollar cheeseburgers was too much of a bargin...so they took away half the track? Maybe they'll use the other half for parking since they won't pave the lot!
