Traction Bar Install ?
I bought a set of Lakewoods and the instructions show the snubber all the way at the front of the mounting bolt for the springs. Is this necessary? I was told to keep a minimum of 1/2" between the spring and the snubber. This is not possible at this point without grinding the snubber down alot. Any help or pics would be appreciated.

If I put the snubber directly under the front bolt on the spring, I have no clearance what so ever. Even using the shims that came with the bars. Do I have it to far forward? I had some more shims made, but I wanted to make sure I had them positioned right. Thanks for the help.

They should fit just right under the front hanger where the front of the spring connects to it. just slide the bar forward till its right under the hanger and spring then just use the shims to adjust.
Also they recomend useing 1/8" on driverside and 1/2" on passanger side, but if i was you i would go 1/2" on driveside and 1" on passanger side. otherwise it rides a bit ruff, i adjust mine out to these specs and the bars still work great and the ride is a little better than having the bars on the specs lakewood gives.
hope this helps some.

Thanks, Dustin. This helps a lot. Lakewoods instructions show it under the bolt. I just couldn't get that to work. I will try the adjustment as you have mentioned.

Man that sounds too close, I'd go with 1" OR MORE min.
I use to keep mine 1-1/4 -1-3/4 and it'll still send you *** into your throat when you hit a speed bump. If you ever got to actually stand inbetween the two racers where the guy working the lights stands (I Have) you will see even if they are 2 inches away, they will close up and lock in immediatly as soon as you preload it at the line, or nail it.
Here's the actual pic Truck Trak uses in their ad's, notice the distance between the snubber and the point it hits

I guess I need to re-adjust mine. I put my lakewoods on with the snubber in th eforward hole. It would not even get close to the round eye on the spring. I had to set it up with the snubber just behind the forward leaf mount bolt. Is this my naughty or is it safe to go with?
