With Zaino no you won't need a buffer or polisher. You only really need a polisher if you're going to be using a swirl mark remover (Z5 isn't really a SMR). I would have recommended you get the ZFX instead of Z1 though, simply because you can put 3 coats on in 1 day instead of waiting 24 hours between coats.

As was stated you will NOT need a buffer for Zaino. A buffer will not do anything for Zaino, it won’t improve the shine etc. That was one of the main reason I went with Zaino because I was NOT about to touch my other truck or my L with a buffer.

I would also highly recommend the Zaino car wash and the Z7 (Detailer, gloss enhancer) and as was mentioned the ZFX, especially if you live where it is humid. The ZFX will cut the dry time a lot, usually only takes 30 minutes and I can hand buff the coat off. Also, like was mentioned, you can put up to 3 coats on in a day. Otherwise you have to wait like 8 hours or so between coats.

Not sure if they list a phone number for Zaino but maybe you can try emailing them with your order number and ask for the changes if you decide to make a change.

As far as the Z5, it is NOT a swirl remover though that is what it is advertised as. It will help “a little” with very light scratches but basically Z5 is used on darker colors and Z2 on lighter colors. Many people will put 3 – 5 coats of Z5 on a darker color vehicle and then follow it up with a few coats of Z2.

I have a sonic blue Lightning and I have 5 coats of Z5 on it and it looks FREAKING DAMN GOOD. I haven’t tried a few coats of Z2 yet, I might to see if I like what it does.

If you use the Zaino car wash and follow that up, after drying, with the Z7 (Gloss enhancer) it looks as though you just put a few coats of Zaino polish on.

USE MICROFIBER towels for drying and buffing. They are much better, softer and MUCH less likely to scratch the paint then the 100% made in America cotton towels. Once you use the microfiber towels it makes the cotton towels feel like your running sand paper over your paint.

Thanks for the info. I will try what I have now this first time. Z1 then Z5, then Z2 and see how I like it. I will just have to leave it in the garage the weekend I do it. If I like it, I will order some of the ZFX.

Where do I get decent towels locally???????? Not looking to spend a fortune for them, but want some fairly decent ones!

I dunno, Maybe I'm the first in here that regularily uses the buffer to apply wax. I use it to apply the cherry wet wax on a monthly basis. I pretty much have the whole wax process down to 20 minutes or so. I wax it up all the way around with a foam bonnet on the craftsman 10" orbital, and then remove with 5-6 terrycloth bonnets. Then I'll hit it with qucik detailer in the areas that I missed or around the tight spots. Once every few months I'll go through and wax all the tight spots by hand but the QD usually makes them look just as nice as the large areas that I just waxed. Granted, I'm not trying to look like I have a world champion paint job either. I've seen the zaino results, they're amazing, but it just seems like way too much work for a truck that's not really kept in the garage on crappy days.

Back to topic, I found it alot easier to use the buffer. Even waxing light my arms get tired. the buffer just makes it that much easier so I use it.

Not sure about locally but this is where I bought mine:

Drying micorfiber towel One towel will dry the truck.

Buffing
I bought 3 of these and use these to buff the Zaino off.

Miscellaneous use
I bought 3 of these and use them for odds and ends on the truck. For example I use them for the Z6 Gloss Enhancer/detailer, or just dusting when there is very light dust on the truck.

Microfiber towels are just like buying 100% cotton towels. You have the real crappy auto parts special for 100% cotton towels made overseas and they are NOT really 100% cotton. Same with Microfiber towels. If you can buy them real cheap at an auto parts store, or Wal-Mart then chances are they are not good quality Microfiber and could cause damage to your paint.

I figure I own a $33k truck and it is a dark color (sonic blue) no way in hell I was going cheap on towels so I went with the real good quality Microfiber towels that Boss and RockPick suggested…
