What shackles ?

OK. I have a new '04 L and want to get rid of the awful jacked up stock rake. I know everyone is using at a minimum of 2" drop shackles to level the truck out. What brand and model number ? Install tips ?

Thanks

I think a lot of people are running the JLP 3" shackle on the 03-04 trucks. I think i might try them on my 01 and take a leaf out to get the 4" rear drop i want.

I would limit the amount of shackle drop you add. The longer the shackle, the more it allows the rear axle to shift around when cornering.

That being said, shackles are cheap and generic. Take your pick.

I have an '03 with the JLP shackle. I used the 4" hole and I sit pretty level. I put a 2" shackle on it first and then removed them because you couldn't see any difference. I have no issues with ride quality or handling. Just remember you will have to flip the direction of the shim when you add the shackle. Hope this helps. Here's a before and after shot, you be the judge.

Where do you buy the 3" JLP shackle? Also I've noticed people buying 2", 3" and 4" shackles. Are all these different or is it just one shackle with different mounting holes?

on an 03-04 deffinetly go with the 3 in shackle over the 2 inch. I have the 2 in. and as Mart Man said, it doesn't really make a difference.

JLP is a vendor on this site. I used his 3" and mounted on the highest hole. Really like the way it leveled it out. Like Martman said, you will need to flip the shim so that you don't get vibrations with a bad pinion angle. Good luck.
