Automotive Schools

Hey all,

I plan on getting out of the military here soon, and I'm looking for options as far as good automotive schools to look into...

I've heard Wyotech is pretty good, but that's the only place I know of. Anyone have any input on that school, or information on another?

Thanks.

Without a doubt, go to the School of Automotive Machinists in Houston, Texas. www.samracing.com You'll learn every trick in the book building hardcore racing engines, everything from NASCAR to 1800hp nitrous big block drag race engines to 10,000rpm smallblock screamers. You'll learn all the trade secrets of making serious horsepower, since the school's focus is only engine building and design. You learn to do all the machining, hand port and CNC port cylinder heads, cam profile design, and using a flowbench and engine dyno. Lots of people talk a good game about engine blueprinting and building, but you'll learn all the fine details that most don't know or ever thought of. Virtually every top team in any form of motorsports has S.A.M. graduates working for them. If you want a tech job go to Wyotech or UTI, if you want a job in motorsports go to S.A.M.

Look into Universal Technical Institute. I have been going there for 4 month now and I love it. They have campuses all over the United States.

Wouldn't mind working in an individual custom shop, a dealership... Anything, really. I just love being around high-performance cars... And I'd like to make a little money while I'm at it.

Ford ASSET

paid internship plus schooling, where you come out a mastertech and a year after that you can become a senior master tech

UTI is way to pricey with no certs

wyo is the same thing as UTI just in a different state

most of all the UTI and wyo guys that come into my shop are gone within a month, to broke to buy enough tools (because school was too much), and because they have no in shop training, slow and don't know tricks on how to make repairs

sure they all aren't like this, but i've seen too many come and go that are all the same

but to each his own
