What Do Chips Change
What Do Chips Change
What elements does a chip usually change to handle more boost?
I know there are posible dangers with running a pulley with no chip, but what about the other way around? Can you safely run a chip burned for a pulley without the pulley in place? I realize the performance would not be optimal, but scheduling of mod installations may force it.

there are probably a dozen parameters for what a burned chip accomplishes. The most important deal with fuel delivery and avoiding detonation- more boost= more fuel. As to your question, if you install a chip with no pulley, youll definitely be safer than the other way around.
your chip can control almost everything.
you can control when your intercooler pump turns on. your a/f mixture, timing, transmission settings, aww man there is SO much the chip can control.

Thanks for the quick replies Guys!!
I was thinking that the chip without a pulley would be safe, but I wanted some reassurrance from the group.
I've got a JDM Superchip and I know the file code. Can JDM tell what the exactly the chips has been burned for from that? Is there any way to 'read' the chip?
I posted a question about this a litle while back and got some good info from others running a '39' code but some responses left me with questions about the whole package on the chip.
The file code is '39CAE2F' and I was told that the chip was tuned for a 6# pulley, CAI, catback and Valve body.
I have enough time on any given weekend to complete one of the three mods I have available to me: pulley, chip, plugs
I figured the 'safest' order would be chip, plugs, pulley.
Any thoughts?
