dyno ?

Took My L to Dyno today but I don't have a lot of confidence in the operator. The Dyno was a mustang and he said he had never done an L. he stuck the af in the end of my pipe. asked me what the settings should be and I of course I have no idea. first he had me wot at 50mph that didn't seem to work right so then went to 60mph. results said 357.39 hp at around 4750 rpm. max torque was 431.4 at 4000rpm and the af started at14.7idle and dropped to 11.37 I'm going to try to attach the graphs. truck is an 04 with 4# lower. jlp ram air, c&l intake tube, magaflow cat back, psp predator street tune, ftvb, psp slapper bars & dsl. Iv'e seen some of the other dyno results on the forums and mine doesn't seem to compare with like modded L's. what do you think?

I can't seem to get the pictures to attach from my gallery Red 2004 lightning

was it a mustang dyno?
Mustang dynos put a load on the rear tires and are more accurate for tuning, BUT they give much lower numbers than that of a dynajet

You should at least be in the 400/500 club. Or real close.

I called the guy back and asked if maybe his numbers were off based on what i saw he told be there is a 15-20% differance in the dynos. does that sound right? also were my af #'s ok. I'm new to this and there don't seem to be many L's in my area.

I've always heard the Mustang dynos were very conservative, and read about 15% lower than the dynojets.

There is also a brand conversion factor, i.e. 500 Dodge hp = 380 Ford hp.

I left the place kind of bummed cause I thought I'd do better. He said he hadn't had many vehicles do better than mine. The guy showed me several pics of vetts, w/smiling owners and dyno sheets making 303 at the wheels trying trying to make me feel better. I guess if that machine is that tough I'm happy

yeah the 15% sounds about right.

IMHO, you can get a "real world" tune on a mustang dyno with a load rather than a Dynojet without load.
