How much HP to run in the 11s?

Like the title says, what kind of hp/tq is required to get a truck in the 11s? This would be at normal weight with normal take offs spare etc.

Yes I have plenty of power to do so at sea level with my JDM motor......but @ 5500 feet air is kinnds hard to come by.

as stated in the other thread,
SVTED is running VERY VERY low 12's with 392 RWHP.
JDM has a truck with a 2 pound lower running 12.00.

Both will be in the 11's this year.

you can have 800rwhp and not be in the 11's if you can't drive or hook up.

But those have a LOT of weight savings, and other "tricks"...

Look at Rob_02 - He went 11.8, with unknown HP... but my guess is that he was seeing somewhere around 450-460HP. He shaved off some weight and got there.

Every 100#'s of unsprung weight is DEFINITELY worth a .1 in the quarter. I proved this with and without a passenger at the track in the same night.

I had a passenger on a back to back run once (on MT ET streets). Slowed me down about 0.2

Thanks, yeah I know with huge wait savings almost anything is possible.

What I am looking for is approx HP from trucks that get high 11s with normal wight.

Concur. Some datapoints:

377hp = 13.2 (street tires, spinning)
420hp = 12.2 (slicks)
450hp = ??

I agree with the others.. 450-460 should be enough..

400hp - 12.6's @ 107
435hp - 12.3's @ 110-111
466hp - 11.9's @ 114-115

All of which had horrible 60's (high 1.7's)

With normal weight savings stuff (spare, hitch, pass. seat, ghetto skinnies, front sway bar, tailgate)

Fact of life, too many factors to set a specific HP number.

For example I have 496/ 562 at the rear, but

1. my tune is very conservative, especially below 3000 rpm

2. my 60 ft's suck, best 1.77 (mind you I have only be on the quarter 4 times).

I had John and JLP look at my L in Bradenton, he told me with an aggressive tune or my existing tune and a 2400 stall I would be in the eleven's easy - bottomline I have to improve the 60ft I plenty of momentum past the eighth.

The question becomes, do I want to further risk the stock rods or do I spend the cash on a stall. For now I am happy with the 12.2 @ 111 on my conservative 93 octane tune.

D-Day

I went 11.97 @ 113 with 426/536 #'s with a 1.60 60 Foot Time...

With 466/583 got me 11.71 @ 117 with only a 1.68 60 foot time...

The 60 foot is the key for ET....

Hey James: I think you're close, but no cigar...yet. I think you'll need 450-460 uncorrected rwhp to get in the 11's, here.
