Custom Cat Back Exhaust ??

Hey Guys. I'm interested in possibly making my own custom cat back exhaust. Definetly looking for a dual Muffler setup.

Choices are:

1. Dual 3" borla XR-1 Sportsman mufflers

2. Dual 3" dynomax ultra flo mufflers

Both choices would have 3" piping all the way thru then go to polished 4" slash cut tips out the side. Anyone have either set up ?? How do they sound ?? How much was it to put all together ?? I want a LOUD aggressive tone that is immediatly noticeable. I would like to do High flow cats and long tube headers but just dont have the extra money for it, but I'd like to see if I could have a lil bit different of a sound.

Thanks

Josh

Do your XR-1 mufflers suffer from what most say about the borla catback kit ??....great idle and low throttle sound but just crap sound at WOT ?

I think was maybe just a lil louder without the headers. Everyone so far has complemented how great it sounds at WOT.

"It sounds like a dragster"
"Sounds like a big block"
"Do you have carb in there"

I can't wait to put some cams and hear how it sounds.

Go with the Dynomax Bullet race mufflers. Same type of muffler as the XR-1 but much much less $$$$$$.

I was thinking that TS, but I just have never heard a set of Dynomax mufflers. So I'm trying to get an idea on how they sound. I've heard the Borla's on a Cobra that sounds MEAN.

I have them on my truck and they sound GREAT!! When I first put them on I had the stock manifolds and cats. I got a Bassani x-pipe and the Bullets, sounded better than any exhaust I have every had. I used to get Flowmaster. Now I have Dynatech long tubes, high flow cats, x-pipe, & dual Bullets and the sound is rediculously loud. It has acctually convinced several of my buddies and my brother to change from Flowmaster to Dynomax.

I'm uploading a dyno vid of my truck as we speak. I need to get some drive-by vids. I'll post the link when it's ready.

With a race muffler you're going to have some drone in the cab. I had a set of Spintechs on it and the drone was very annoying, thats why I changed to Dynomax.

It's not too bad, but my wife would tell you otherwise.
