G-tech performance meter

How accurate is a g-tech pro comp performance meter? They said it measures horsepower and torque, as well as a ton of other stuff. I was curious how accurate the horsepower and torque readings are. If anyone knows, please tell me. I have a new g-tech coming in the mail and would like to know some info to tide me over while I wait

I have taken mine to the track and it was off by a 5 hundreths of a second in E.T. and it was a few mph high. This was in the 1/8th, I havent ever taken it down the 1/4.

I use mine to measure changes. If you test on the same road going the same direction you should get very consistant results. So with every mod that you add you should be able to take the truck out and get accurate before and after results.

accurate, not necessarily. From my general understanding it is decent and as shown above, it can be accurate for certain people. More important than accurate however, is that it is consistent. I wouldn't use it so much as a tool to determine your quartermile, but it definately is a good tool to determine how much better a mod has benefitted you.

Top End MPH

Remember at the drags they use a trap for a top average speed, where the G-Tech is attempting to actually measure true top speed.

HP and Torque w/ G-Tech Competition depends on the Vehicle Weight you Enter.......I Guestimated 4800 lbs....yet my HP and TQ
are below 400/500 w/G-Tech. ( I Dyno higher)

At Track ................... G-tech same run

60 ft 1.954 ,,,,,,,,,,,, 2.123

330 5.292 ............... 5.432

The G-Tech is not as good as a drag strip for getting true numbers and speeds, but is great for testing new mods. The key to it is to know as accurately as possible how much your truck weighs with you in it...

It has pretty accurate times for ET's ...generally +/- .1 sec for me. I'd get the original if I were you. Works just fine...I got mine on Ebay brand new for $34

Weight of truck Entered.......Is only for HP and TQ

Your G-Tech Times are Not associated w/the weight you enter

My Manuel for the pro says you have to enter the correct distance your track uses for starting. This can vary from track to track.... most are like 12 inches. I forgot what they call it, but it's in the book. This will throw the final numbers off if you don't correctly input the distance. It also says most tracks don't calibrate there equipment very often so 2 different tracks will not have the same results.

You also have to remember that dragstrips take an average of your speed that prints onto the timeslip.
They record your speed something like 60' before the end and at the end and average the two together for your speed.
So the G-tech is really more accurate as far as that is concerned.

The G-tech is not to be used to compare to a dragstrip....it is used to compare to its own measurements.

Read the entire manual that comes with one and it explains all this in detail.
