idles like crap, suggestions please!

In drive at idle, the truck runs real rough. almost seems like it's missing, but no SES light has come on, and my Predator comes up with no codes. Also, I'm getting the searching idle (small rpm surges). I recently cleaned the IAC valve, so I don't believe this is the problem. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

thanks, Aaron

Hey Bud..
Have you checked your plugs lately? I was having the same problem. I changed my plugs, and they looked perfect but the gap was a little wide. I installed new TR6's @ .040" and she is smooth as can be.

Later,
Another Aaron from MA!

Hey Aaron, that's a pretty funny coincidence. Where in MA?

I just recently changed plugs from stock to Denzo IT-22's. (I run a 4# lower). It's been about a month and a half with the new plugs (gapped at about .038). I'd hate to think there was already an issue with the new plugs!

Did you replace your plugs, or just check 'em out and regap to .040?

there goes my ride tomorow. my truck did the same and it turned out to be bad plugs and fuel pump.

you need a color change!!!!!!! (or a new mechanic)

Yeah, first I'll try the new mechanic. thanks for the advise blue man!

for real though, the truck idled real bad yesterday for about a 1/2 hour in traffic on my way back from cow hampshire. took it for a ride a little later last night- same thing. Today...fine.

I'm clueless on this one. It's gonna drive me crazy though, you know that!

I guess the first thing to do would be to pull the predator tune out and see, but if it only does this now and then, it's gonna be hard to get any definitive answers, ya know?

I think I'll just keep driving around and see if it happens again to try to figure out exactly when and where it happens. If you have any ideas in the meantime though, please let me know.

I'll try to stop by sometime this week, but both my dog and wife are sick, so I may not be able to.

Talk to you soon, thanks Jon

new mechanic...

hey amp,

I know of a guy that will be your new "mechanic" .. he lives a little ways away from you ,, just keep away from anything that needs to be torqued!!!

Has temp. had anything to do with the problem? i.e. I heard traffic was a SOB on 93/95 yesterday...

Wondering if you were idling for a very long period,, getting under hood temps. higher than you have seen in past. (prev. to tune).... just throwing stuff out..

Sorry to hear about bride ... hope all is well

yeah about the idling, it was near the end of an hour long ride cruising at about 70-80, and happened later that night (I went for a ride about an hour after I parked it).

Other than that, nothing. However, I usually just putz around town (no highway speeds ).

Who knows, but I'll def. stop by when things aren't so crazy over here. thanks, Aaron
