Autometer Fuel Gauge Wiring Route ?
I just installed mine yesterday.
I previously opened up the hole in the large grommet where the boost line goes through the firewall and ran 1/2" split loom through the new larger hole. This conduit got filled with all the other wires, so I cut a second hole in the grommet, slightly smaller that the split loom provided with the gauge. I then cut the grommet from this new hole to the edge to make a split that the wire loom can be "snapped" into. Under the dash, I ran the loom over the steering column and brake pedal hanger and into the back side of the area the headlight switch mounts in (pulled the switch out to make it easier). From there, I could run the loom into the A-pillar using a length of weed whacker line as a fish tape.
In the compartment, I fabbed a braket and mounted a liquid filled gauge to one leg of a brass T fitting. The Autometer sender went in a second leg and a 90 degree flare fitting in the last leg. A length of steel braided hose goes from the flare fitting to the schrader valve adapter on the rail.
I've got a couple of pics I can put in my gallery.
Good Luck,
Herb

full sweep electric gauge
With the gauge pre-mounted in the pod, take a Dremel and burn a small hole in the rubber grommet in the firewall, clip the wires about 4" from the sending unit end of the fuel pressure wiring harness, feed the wires from inside the cab out through the hole, snake the wires through the plastic cover at the top of the firewall (it's tricky but looks cleaner), slide a 1.5" piece of heat shrink onto each of the three wires, SOLDER the wires together, let cool, slide the heat shrink over the solder then heat. Cut loom to fit and attach.
Plug into the sending unit attached to the fuel rail.
