Question for Superfords....

I saw your truck at the drag strip in Kinston last year and you showed me the film that you had put along the edges of your true blue's front end. I forget what it was called. I was curious as to how that panned out for you. Was it money well spent or do you regret it?

Feedback is appreciated....

I am pretty sure he used the stuff by 3M. I cant think of the "REAL" name of it. Im sure he will chime in...

You ready for Kinston again?

3M was it! I just couldn't remember and I don't remember too many people saying much about it. I recall that it seemed quite expensive for my tastes.

Kinston? I may just go back there. Its only about 2 hours I suppose. I had a great time last year.

ICULOKN: I just happened to browse your picture gallery. I noticed it looks like you race 1/24 slots. My brother has a nice racetrack in WV for 1/24s and has two real nice HO roadcourse tracks as well. I can give you a link to his track if you are ever interested....

Thanks for the link ROUSHFAN-1 but my original question was I was wondering how Superfords liked the 3M application on his truck and if he felt it was worth the bucks.

hey there,
sorry for the delay, I was out cruising around a little before the sun went down.

as for the protective film. as was said above, yes it is a 3M product but it is sold under lots of different names.

Yes I still like the product, it has been on for over a year and hasn't changed color or cracked or done anything weird.

it is pricey, but the same justifications still apply, it looks better and protects FAR more area than a bug guard/shield. it looks MUCH MUCH better than a traditional bra and protects as well. it doesn't fade and or scratch your paint like a bra. it can be removed at any time and nobody will ever know it was there, they will only know that your xx,xxx mile vehicle has an exceptionally chip free front end. it has a lifetime guarantee, includes replacement if damaged. for example, I got a rock "chip" that was bad enough to tear through the protective film (didn't chip the paint below though). I can take the truck back and have them redo the film for free.

when the truck is clean, from just a few feet away, the film is all but invisible, from 10 or 15 feet away, it is ENTIRELY invisible.

be careful when waxing, because the film edge can/will collect wax.

I'd recommend only applying the film to a BRAND NEW vehicle.

I did mine after about a week of driving and it had already gotten a chip or two.

even though I had the chips repaired before applying the film, you can still see them a little.

pretty much my only complaint about the products is that when the truck is dirty the edge of the film on the hood is very visible and people are constantly asking me, "do you know somebody scratched your hood!?"

good luck.

later,
chris

almost forgot to mention, I drove my truck through the winter snow and ice and road sand/salt last year, as it was my only vehicle. the film held up great.

overall, I definately give it a thumbs up.
