Is this a big screw-up?Cam Install?

Is this a big screw-up?Cam Install?

Does it hurt to install the cams with the lifters and rockers alreadys installed?1/4 turn a time in sequence to 89 ft lbs?

it shouldnt hurt them in my opinion, just be carefull when unbolting then. 89ftlbs seems rights, but chris (i think) said that some of his co-workers just impact them on with a gun

I hope you mean 89 Inch Lbs. I would just go around a few times to make sure they are all seated. When you go around the first time you may have more tension on some than others because of the valve springs. Good luck.

chim, I have never tried it that way, but it would probably work ok in a pinch. my only concern would be getting accurate torqe readings with the springs pushing upwards on the cams and caps, but it'd probably be ok. just be careful, the threads in the cam towers are tiny and aluminum, it might be easy to strip on out if there is to much tension when trying to compress those springs.

like tommy said though, check the final torque spec several times.

oh, and yeah, its 89INCH LBS. 89ft/lbs is a little high

I think cpeapea was thinking about the bolts on the front of each cam to hold the gear on.

What a relief to hear that.Thanks everyone.And yes i meant to say inch lbs. It didnt seam to be much pressure on the cam.Hopefully all works well.Thanks again
