idler pulley grease

What the hell do you put into idler pulley bearings. I tried mobil 1 syn general grease, that was pretty much a disaster, it's way too thick. I tried some bearing grease but thats not much better. I have lithium grease which im gonna try next but i figured i should just ask. What the hell goes in there?

it's really thick stuff so the pulley would turn about half a turn and then stop. Need a grease that is a lot lighter i think.

i dont think they need to spin freely as you think. when they warm up from running a bit, they should spin way more freely

yeah thats true, i was just gauging it based on how the other pulley is, it spins 5-6 times before stopping. With the mobil 1 in there is barely turns half way. White litium grease sure makes it spin but i feel like its not being protected that well.
