PO175 BANK 2 RICH? Help....

Any thoughts on this?

I am getting this code and have no idea what to chase?

Here is the snapshot off my OB2 scanner at work>>

DTC PO175
ENG SPEED 661rpm
ECT 183F
VEH SPD 0MPH
FUEL STAT 1 CL
FUEL STAT 2 UNSUSED
ST FT 1 -4.6%
LT FT 1 -24.1%
ST FT 2 -7.7%
LT FT 2 -24.9%

Any ideas?

Bob

BTW - the predator wont read the code but will clear the light

Bob, do you have the ability to watch the data change as the truck's running? I have a similar code popping up on my truck. With the test I used, I was able to watch the data across the o2 sensors while the truck was running. Bank 1 was working fine, you'd see the numbers changing. Bank 2 was stuck on the same number. Indications point to a bad o2 sensor on the drivers side, before the cats.

I'm picking up a new sensor today and will get it installed over the weekend. We'll see if that fixes the issue.

Not sure if you have same setup as me. i had this code when i had a stock airbox, but modded the underside to feed a hose from a scoop into the airbox. the same week, i read in MMFF that they were getting this code with same setup in a mustang. apparently, on coastdown, the MAF was getting confused as air was still entering and blowing directly on MAF sensor. what i did to clear was what MMFF did also - i made a small air deflector (baffle) to redirect the air so it did not go inline with MAF.

as i said, i was getting it but was unable to clear it also. went away once i built the baffle. probably NOT your situation, but the code was VERY familiar to me.

good luck,
Dave

Your long term fuel trims are at the limit ...
The Computer cant take out any more fuel at idle to keep it at 14.6 ....

They should be closer to 0 ( within 5% + or - )

Thats why you are getting the code.

Your chip tuner can fix that for you.

Doug -

I understand and agree with what you are saying but my question is what scenario would cause the LTFT to get so far out. Its been suggested to me that I may have a leaky injector on the left side of the motor (bank 2) but the truck runs great and idles very well also.

I am useing a predator with a custom tunes from two different and very experienced Lighting tuners. I just switched from the one vendors tune to the other just now and just cleared the light so I will see if the light is being caused by the tune or not on the drive to work tommorro.

Thanks,
Bob

My truck was 22% or so rich as well - STOCK.

Not sure what happened or if it left the factory that way BUT it was fixed in the chip. When it was first discovered I had been running mods by then for a while. BUT with NO chip it was that far off at Idle

In fact the superchips custom tuning software has step by step instructions on how to fix this exact issue by tweaking in the fuel...

Clearly if you can get your truck closer to 0% then it has room to adjust if something else changes down the road...

Since you have negitive longterm fuel trim readings on both banks the PCM is compensating for a rich condition that is affecting both banks. This rules out a leaking injector on only bank 2. Some possible causes are : contaminated MAF sensor - do you have a K&N type air filter? If you have a contaminated MAF the BARO parameter will also likley be incorrect for your altitude, fuel pressure too high/fuel pressure regulator, restricted air inlet/filer,restricted exhaust and of course the program you are running.

Hope this helps

It seems to be resolved

Well I reflashed the PCM last night with a different tune. I have 4 seprate tunes from two different Lightning "tuners" and the new tune is keeping the long term fuel trims at almost 0% at idle, no wheres near the -24% I was seeing before.

I drove the truck for over an hour this morning and the trims stayed within 5% of ZERO the whole time.

I assume the issue has been resolved, I will discuss this with the vendor I got the tune from to try and figure out why.

Bob
