Lightbulb NGK Sparkplug info( READ HERE)

I was searching for some info for NGK sparkplugs cause I am getting some detonation with my Tr5ix's and was goign to buy some Tr6's to see if it cured the problem. I found out that Iridium plugs run hotter than the Copper counterpart. So a Tr5 runs cooler than a Tr5ix. Get it?

I got this from a Oklahoma GrandPrix Club website. http://www.okgpc.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1395

We are about to introduce an Iridium version of the TR6, TR7 and the TR8. The part numbers will be TR6IX, TR7IX, and TR8IX. In their rush to get Iridium introduced into the market Denso did not take the heat transfer properties of Iridium into account and the NGK engineers did. Sometimes there is an advantage to being the second company to introduce a product. We got the chance to study the Denso plugs before we started making them. The Iridium in the plugs is just an Iridium button welded onto a copper center electrode, controlling the heat properties the same as a copper plug.

So this means that I should be running Tr6's because I am running a 4lb pulley. But I got the Tr5ix cause supposedly that's all NGK had for the Iridiums. Well if the IRidiums are running hotter than the TR5, Then I should get the Tr6ix or even a Tr7ix, Correct?

Feel free to add any info here. I checked the Plug site and the plugs Tr6ix and Tr5ix are both the sam size. 14mm 5/8's typer plug.

With a 4# TR6s have many many miles & 1/4 runs on them. IMO for a 4# pulley they are a very reliable & trouble free plug.

When I tried the NGK TR5IX it burned more like the TR6 than the TR5. My MPH was 1 - 1.5 mph slower like the TR6 compared to the TR5. Everything about the TR5IX pointed to a heat range closer to the TR6 than a TR5.

I ran the TR5IX with a 4# lower and RobG ran them with a 6# lower on his old L.

Try the TR6 and see if that solves the problem. If not then have a look at your tune.

Plug gap will also cause loss of power. Make sure they are gapped accordingly to the boost your running.
