Power Coating and stripping, how much?
Strip them yourself, I did my Gen 1 wheels with "aircraft paint stripper". Then look for places other than "Bobs powder coating". After I stripped my wheels I found a place that made cast aluminum parts and had their own powder coating shop. My total cost was less than $190.00 (including the $30.00 I paid for the paint stripper) and they had to tape off the polished lip on my wheels.
I got mine at an auto body supply store and paid almost $30.00 for a gallon. Get it at Auto Zone I think I saw it there or at Advance Auto for $20.00. Follow the directions exactly and the stuff works good..... after applying a coat of the stripper cover the wheels with a sheet of plastic to help keep the stripper from evaporating. I used a pressure washer to clean the wheels after each coat of stripper which helped in the stripping process. I did 3 coats on each wheel and I think it took about 2 hours because you have to let the stipper work for about 1/2 hour.
After stripping, just a few bits of powder coating left which came off with a plastic scaper.

After powder coating.

Does anyone happen to know if it would be possible to do this to wheels that are chrome plated?
I assume that the chrome would have be stripped somehow before the powdercoating process, but I'm not sure that can be done...
