Oil breather cap Q

What are the advantages of an oil breather cap? I see most of you have them listed in you mods.

It is used to help eliminate the ingestion of oil through the upper intake into the engine which also clogs the IC. People use them in different applications. I have a breather cap on each side and have removed all of the stock PCV system hoses and capped the fittings where the hoses went. I feel this was the easiest and most effective way to cure the oil problem. Now other people just put one on the passangers side which helps cure the problem, but it lets unmetered air into the intake via the poorly designed PCV system. That way creates a lean condition in your engine which could have very bad effects. Hope this helps.

This is from the PSP web site.

"Helps cure the common problem with oil injested into the upper intake and blower area."

I don't believe you need one, as certain websites would suggest, for increased boost pressure. However, if you are going to run one, your tune should be modified for it.

I think it kind of depends on each individual truck. Some trucks are worse than others with the oil problem. If you are going to put one just on the passangers's side, you should have your chip programmed for that. With the increased boost it will pressurize the vavle cover a bit more, so it could force more oil into the intake.
