I've had the same problems way before his move.

There are a few things people need to keep in mind about getting Predator tunes from us.

It's not the same as our old Chipmaster software. The new Chipmaster Revolution software is much more complex, and we have access to 3 times more parameters than with the single bank programs. It takes a lot of time to make a Predator program. And since each Predator tune must be made from the customers downloaded stock file, we are essentially making each first tune from scratch. On the average, you're looking at about an hours work into each tune.

Now, with that said, think about this... We sell more Predators than most other Diablo dealers. We also have many people who bought their Predators elsewhere, buying their tunes from us. We also have to tweak exsiting customer Predator tunes when the customers go to the track or dyno and want adjustments.

On the average, I have to make about 30 Predator tunes a week. That's about 30 hours a week worth of tuning, for PREDATOR tunes alone. On top of that, I have to make chip programs, do chip reburns, and then run the rest of the entire business as well.

So now you know why it can take a week or two to get a Predator tune.

Makes sense, and it wasn't intended as a bash. I appreciate all the help Sal has given me, believe me. It's just that the big selling feature of the Predator was the speed with which you can get a custom tune; that part just isn't happening, with any of the tuners as far as I can tell. I am not singling Sal out at all.

I understand better why it takes so long, but I am still disappointed in the time table. There is so little adjustment in this thing that unless it's very close you can't get it where you want it without a custom tune.

It is pretty much the same issue for the SCT. I think we all got spoiled over the last year or two with being able to get a chip reflashed in a day or so.

The new parameters that are available allow for much more precise tuning, but we all have to realize it does take longer to do each tune.

I have to admit, I didn't really do the break down of the hours available in a week with how long each tune now takes, with both the Predator and SCT. It makes sense to me.

#2. When you get a customer who asks for a tweak to his tune, 90% of the time your only adjusting a few parameters and not every graph and table in the PCM. If the Tuner is having to make that many adjustments, that in itself speaks for the tuners ability in the 1st place.(Im not speaking of any specific tuner, its a comment in general)

These questions only are being asked in regards to a tweak that the tuner put on a predator he sold, not correcting another vendors tune. I would think this software is the same as the chipmaster stuff in past, each vendor cannot see the tune the other vendor originally wrote. Thanks and maybe if these questions can be answered it will give people a understanding as to why certain vendors( Again, Im not speaking of any specific tuner, its a comment in general) never answer there phones, emails or PMs. They also always give the generic answer that they dont know what happen or have never seen it happen. I know the originator of this thread, His truck is shifting at 5700-5800 and the tuner told him maybe his transmission was slipping. The truck has 5700 miles on it and has less than 500 miles on a Predator and 4# pulley. If the trans is fubar, its because the tuner doesnt know what he is doing and has caused the malfunction.

I agree, it's not the tranny slipping. I will verify it after work today by replacing the custom tune with either one of the diablo tunes or the factory tune (which I know is a little lean but safe). Pretty sure it's going to shift correctly on all of those.

I'll post my result.

Im having the same problem with my tuner. I sent my stock file two weeks ago. Have written emails with no reply and nobody ever answers the phone. I know they are busy but all I asked for in my emails was some kind of confirmation that they recieved my file. One of the biggest selling points for me with the predator was being able to email tunes and not have to wait on shipping.
I can understang that it takes alot of time to create a tune but replying to emails only takes a minute or two.

I wish chickenears was a tuner. Now there is a man that knows how to treat customers. The tuners have the "you need me but I dont need you" mentality.

This also happened to my truck with a specific tuner. I talked to him twice about the issue. (my L was actually hitting the rev limit, and dumping all of the boost). The first time I spoke to him, he told me that my chip was conservative and should shift at 5450...possibly my clutch plates were slipping. When I actually sent in the chip, he called and told me it was an agressive tune programmed to shift at 5600. so which one was it? He had no recolection of ever telling me the chip was programmed for 5450. I don't think he even took 10 minutes to look into it. Meanwhile, my truck was hitting 6grand. Thanks

BTW- Doug took his truck out last night with stock tune and trans works fine, guess it was tuner error

It's supposed to work that way according to Diablo, but it doesn't. (I've had 2 tunes in my predator and have never sent my original tune off).
