Blower question

please dont move this, i posted it here because more of you guys post here. i am looking into possibly buying a 2000 HD F-150, and was just wondering how much it would cost to supercharge it, with just the stock SVT blower. what else is involved in this also. thanks guys.

you'll need a lot more than just slap a LIGHTNING blower on it

Lightnings have different pistons than regular 5.4

You should PM " Neal " he has a supercharger on his and it runs pretty damn good.

things you'll need (not complete)
Lower manifold
intercooler
heat exchanger
all tubing
reservior container
upper manifold
supercharger,
intake
all the vacuum hoses and emission stuff.

I think it would be easier to go with an aftermarket kit rather than a lightning step-up.
and a ton cheaper.

not to mention the computer programming and tuning

I think it would cost just as much to buy a KB or a procharger rather than the stock eaton. Ford sells the eaton for like 3K. I am sure you could get it out of a junk yard cheaper than that.

Add to l-menace's list:
Lower compression pistons
Different Rods
Different crank?
Injectors
Fuel pump
spark plugs
IC pump ($200-$300) right there.

At the end of the day you'd probably spend $6000+ for the SVT system when you could get a procharger set up for $3000-$4000 that will produce more power.

I know you may not wanna hear it, but it'd likely be smarter and cheaper to just trade or sell and then buy a factory supercharged Harley or Lightning.

even if you do all of the work and spend all of the money required to convert, then you have a money pit that has no warranty, and no resale value.

BTW, don't waste your time on the KB kit for the N/A f-150. IMHO it is disappointing.

good luck.

later,
chris

You could buy the complete Lightning or Supercharged Harley engine along with the Harley PCM, then bolt on the heat exchanger and reservoir. You could sell the 2000 Harley engine to offset some of the cost.
