Do 01 wheels work on 99's?

I bought some 01 wheels to mount on my 99--- but while buying some extra lugnuts, the parts guys said that it isn't a good idea because they will move around while mounted... I know that the 01's have different lugs...

I remember reading awhile ago that 99 wheels can't be mounted on 01+ --- but never the other way around.... So should I not mount them ?

The 99 wheels CAN be used on any year Gen 2 (I have them on my 03). The later years (01 and after) have larger lug holes and I don't think I would try going that way.

Yes I'm sure they are 99's. The wheel will just fit over the lugs. It is tight but it WILL fit.

the 99's have 12mm lugs so the hole is smaller.
(won't fit 2000-2004 which have 14mm lugs unless you enlarge the holes)

The 2000-2004 wheels will fit the '99s

Your 1999 studs are 12 mm and the later ones are 14 mm. As such, the holes in the later wheels are about 2 mm larger. In every case, the holes in the wheels have clearance for the studs - none of them are a press fit or even close. There have been a lot of people who have put later wheels on early trucks and I have never read a post which said anyone had a problem. The hub locates the wheel and fits fairly tight, but that diameter is the same on all of them. The studs limit the rotation of the wheels on the hub, but as long as they are tight, everything appears to work just fine.
